You can't expect a person from Alabama to follow a movie that doesn't have big explosions and boobies.

There were boobies. Jennifer Jason Leigh. OT 4.

Stuff this lame is just asking for your opinion to be shite on. Be thoughtful, show a little knowledge if/why you hated something.

I saw this last week. Thought it was pretty fricking good.

I liked it and still remember it well despite it being 7 years since I've seen it. Usually, if a movie sticks with me that long, it was pretty good.

Seems like you were blinded by your irrational hatred for Christian Bale. This is one of the best acting performances I've seen by one of the best actors of our generation. Not only did he get skinny (123 lbs to be exact), but he delivered an emotional performance that pulled the audience in. His delusions were well thought out and fit into his character well. True, the movie didn't have a sweeping plot that many movies have. That's because it focused on the one character and his development, his stagnation, and finally his salvation. Each character played a part, but only insofar as the development of the main character.
The fact that you believe "nothing happened" is beyond me. A man went from a person so self-deluded that he literally hadn't slept in a year to a man who came to grips with his past and his reality. The motifs and symbolism in this film, though often heavy handed, were fairly well done and well placed, and, at the end of it, the audience (should have) walked away with something to think about.
It was a great film. Not trying to be offensive to you, but perhaps you should stick to movies like Crank if you think the Machinist was crap.
