Heading to my cousins fishing camp near Cocodrie next weekend and want to stock up on some artificial baits so I don't use his stash up.
We are fishing the islands and the sulpher mine mostly.

Thanks in advance.

1. Mirrodine/corky floater
2. Matrix on 1/8oz or 1/4oz depending on depth
3. Topwater. This goes to #1 when conditions allow.

These are just what I like. Everybody has their thing.

1. Artificial shrimp. Pick your favorite. Recently switched to Marker 54, but have done well with TKO and even H&H in the past.
2. Matrix Shad
3. Mirrordine

If he goes a lot, just ask him what he uses. He’d appreciate that you acknowledge him a an expert and that y ou aren’t using up his stash.

my top 3 when going to the islands...

Purple/gold cocahoe minnow
Top Dog jr red/white
chartreuse sparkle beetle

but i also will not go to the islands without live cocahoe minnows or the ability to get live croakers/pogies. I prefer artificials but sometimes the trout don't

The ones I fish sure do which is why I find the Mirrodine so effective. Couldnt say for the West of Ms River around Grand Isle / Cocodrie.

Yea, I can not float live shrimp or dead shrimp over the grass here. Just too frustrating.

I have used the Zman Prawnstar under a cork and done OK but in the end, I do my best on a 3" swimbait and 3/8oz swimbait head for them.

It's not rocket surgery. A plastic that looks like a minnow and a plastic that looks like a shrimp. Super easy fish to catch, I also have no shame and will get my limit with a popping cork.

Shrimp creole matrix shad under 4 horsemen cork
DOA 3” holographic shrimp under 4 horsemen cork
1/2 oz chartreuse/black back rattletrap.

If they can’t be caught on these in the hot months, go back to the camp and get intoxicated.

My neighbor charters. He's been tearing them up on double rigged sparkle beetles in RootBeer color, both under a cork and on the btm.
