You gator hunters ever have one pop up in the boat with you to say "hello"?

Yep, had one walk down the measuring table we had in the boat for hours. He took a 357 to his cranium shortly after the stroll.

had that happen too. luckily it was only a 4.5 footer. i was bare foot and crammed into the back partition of the boat with the motor and battery.

Giant lizards. I don't get the fear of them. It's not a salt water croc.

I dont know many folks scared of them, more worried about wading around teal season/ early duck season or their dogs when it is still hot af.

We had 4 in the boat covered with wet burlap bags and were Headed back to the camp when one decided he had just about enough fun for the day. He’s started the tail/head wag and caught our attention, but mostly mine because I was sitting on the bow nearest his pearly whites.

I had been carrying a little .38 when gator hunting for snakes but had decided to start carrying a .45 that season. Ole boy caught all 9 in his face/head. My cousin was scared that I had shot through the boat so he went full throttle in case I had put a few through the bottom. We came into the camp hot, with a boat load of gators and blood and one very pale go-Tigre’s.

That’s the day we switched to a M1 from a 22lr.

No but I have shot one in the head only to get back to the dock flop it on the deck and the son of a butch hiss and move wasn’t quite dead merely stunned. 11’ gator in a 14’ boat. Bastards head stopped a 357 mag.

agreed. i have had them put their face on this side of my flatboat after putting out decoys. just seemingly checking us out. however, never had one with his feet all of the way in my boat like that one.

Shot one last year almost to Port Eade (Venice) about 9.5ft. About two hour later, after checking lines, killing another gator, and catching limit of red fish--we are heading back up river at heads of passes.

The 9.5fters tail started to move, which i just shook off as his nerves. Buddy was sitting in the front of the boat (18x60) near the gators head. About thirty seconds later the gator pushed his body up looked at us and jumped off boat in the River.

Luckily (somewhat) we had a rope tied around his neck that was connected to boat. When the gator hit the water the gator spun the whole boat around and to a halt. Proceeded to fight him on the rope back to the surface before putting two more clips of bullets in him.

The poor bass boat next to us had no idea what was happening until he saw us pulling the gator back to the top of the water. they laughed and waived--we put the gator back in the boat and took him to Terry's Oysters to sell soon thereafter for just enough money to cover the gas and beer.

Put hooks in to one that was 11'5" and was wrestling around with him. Buddy hooked a throw line in him and thought it was a good idea to tie it to the cleat at the front of the boat. That sucker rolled a few times and his upper body, mouth wide open, was in the front of the boat where 3 of my buddies were standing. Luckily the line slipped off the cleat and he went back in the water. Tense and scary moment for a second there! Wrestled with him a little longer and finally was able to slide a knife into the base of his skull.
