Thanks for your time.
I'm thinking I'll buy 2. One for a 22 and one for AR15 223. I have a threaded 9mm handgun, but I don't shoot 9mm often at all, but maybe it'd be worth getting a low dollar can for it. I don't have any other rifles.

I remember thinking that when I didn’t own one and researching to buy.
I now have 8 or 9.

My last 2 were a 3rd .22 lr can (rugged oculus) and a dedicated can for my AR with thermal. I bought a Cat TI White bread for weight savings. It’s 6oz vs 16-20+ oz on my other .30 cans.
The Cat is a low blow back 3D printed silencer. It is amazing.

I get it.
I'm pretty old, so my priority is going to be weight for both (or 3 lol).

So I can shoot squirrels in my across the street neighbor's trees from my second floor window with nobody knowing. Obviously.

My Q El Camino (rimfire) is very good and very light and not too expensive. I’d also look to see when Cat has another release of their Short Round (rimfire). Whatever you do, do not buy one with aluminum baffles.
I have several .30. The Q Thunder Chicken is great and would readily recommend it.
The dead air Sandman is another that is very good. It’s bullet proof but very heavy.
If I were buying now, I don’t know what I’d get as there are so many good one available but the Cat ODB would be in the mix.

Just why bother with a 22 silencer.
Because you no longer need hearing protection and it’s friggin awesome?
Enhanced hunting experience, less likely to scare off animals. Other people around you don’t know you are shooting.
Guess you don’t do much squirrel or rabbit hunting or shoot nuisance possums, raccoons, armadillos, or skunks.

I was at the range this am- a guy had a suppressed Ruger 22/45 Lite and EVERYONE stopped what they were doing to ohhhh ahhhh “that’s so cool”
It was absolutely silent but for the action of the gun.
10/10
Don’t knock the suppressed game bro.

Because of reading this thread, I realized you can legally use a suppressor to deer hunt in Alabama now. Shows how much hunting I do these days

If you really truly don’t have any larger caliber hunting rifles or anything and really don’t see yourself buying a suppressor for them then as someone else mentioned then I think the hottest thing on the market is the stuff from CAT, for an ar15 more specifically the CAT WB.
I bought a CAT WB 718 inconnel (heavy but able to withstand extreme rates of fire, I went that route because when i train with it I don’t think about slowing down to reduce heat.
They have a titanium version that is so light it weighs less than some muzzle devices. You just can’t go and do 30 round mag dumps with it because of the heat limitations of titanium, that said all titanium suppressors have that limitation and I think realistically 99 percent of end users would never use their ar in a way that is going to damage a titanium suppressor.

Yes, I guess I read of enough of your words today, and watched a couple videos that I had the titanium CAT WB in my cart on Silencer Shop, and an el camino. Then I decided that I should maybe buy one at a time to simplify process, then realized they didn't have it in stock. So, briefly on Pause here.
Good way to spend a gloomy sunday, I guess.
ETA: 1.375x24 is the standard threads on a AR15, 223/556?

So go ahead and and call silencershop and buy the cat WB on back order. You’ll pay for it right then and there but they’ll let you buy it.
The cat suppressors are so popular that it was the only way u felt I could ensure I got one.

Actually, it's showing the CAT-WB in stock.
1.375x24 is standard on an AR15/223/556?
Nevermind. I got it.

shoot subsonic rounds....?

1.375x24 is industry standard “HUB” threads. The back of the suppressor is threaded that size, female.
You will need a 1/2x28F to 1.375x24M adapter to directly thread on the barrel of the gun. There are pros and cons to direct threading. Your other option is to get a 1.375x24 to some QD system. Keymo, plan b, ect. You will need a muzzle device and HUB adapter in the same system.
Direct thread:
1/2x28 barrel —-> 1.375x24 HUB —-> suppressor
Keymo QD:
1/2x28 barrel —-> keymo —-> keymo —-> 1.375x28 HUB —-> suppressor
If you wanted to put the suppressor on a 300 blackout for example, that’s threaded 5/8x24, you would just need a 5/8x24 to Keymo on the end of the barrel. It’s easy to swap the suppressor between host guns with that system.
If you are buying a can that’s dedicated to the gun with no plans to remove it, direct thread and use rocksett.
Not sure about the CAT WB specifically, it might come with a direct thread attachment. In that case you will just take off whatever flash hider is on the barrel now and thread the suppressor directly on. Make sure to keep it tight during use and/or use rocksett (locktite that doesn’t break down at high temperatures).

This.
The rep can also let you know how many are coming in the next shipment and what number you are in line.
Helps relieve some of the anxiety (if you’re a little impatient like me).

The 1.375 is the industry standard hub mount. You’ll have to go and buy a Rearden atlas mount that will accept any of their muzzle devices.
That way if you have multiple different threads in different guns you just change the thread type on the muzzle device.
On semi autos you’ll want to use a muzzle device. Direct threading will unthread after 10-15 rounds and you constantly have to check that. And they can also carbon lock in their.
The muzzle devices have tapers that lock the can on and also seal the carbon infront of the threads.
Whether you go industry hub or use their spooky mount is up to you.
Because you don’t have any other suppressors you could go spooky and probably save some money not have to buy the correct mounts.

You can shoot multiple squirrels out of the same tree with a bolt action 22 with subsonics and a can.
