Fortunately and unfortunately you're correct, losing access sucks. The state never really came out and gave a specific reason but I'd think it's a combo of not wanting jackass driving up on the dunes they just built for instagram #flex shots of their lightbarred up 07 Silverado plus the ungodly amounts of trash that people would leave. Even still with the new restoration just completed I drove to Elmers about a month ago and there was piles of trash by the entrances to the beach. 
It was the only thing in the fridge, I just put it in there for the pic this morning. I'm better than this.

This was maybe my all time favorite thread on TD!!!! The play by play action was awesome!!!!! Sucks though bc of morons like that we can't drive on EI anymore. Lots of good memories doing that.

That smoke ring at 3:15 was pretty cool.
