I have a collection of many styles accumulated over the years and don’t worry about matching. The only thing that matters is being careful with “duck hunting” camo outerwear as some if that can be noisy. If I’m deer hunting then I avoid that stuff.

As far as patterns, not worried at all.

My daughter in law was pregnant and going with my son and coworkers on a dove hunt. I fixed her up in some of my camo. She called me, on speaker phone, to ask why she was the only one there that didn't match. I told her/them that anyone in collared matching camo outfits, that looked like they just walked out of Bass Pro, probably didn't know shite about hunting... probably never had blood on their clothes... that every article of camo I own has been baptized in blood.... and that she she consider herself the only true hunter, in spirit, due to wearing tested and proven camo from me, a true hunter, and be proud she didn't look like all the other pressed and pleated douchebags around her pretending to be hunters. The phone erupted in laughter. She said thanks pop, you made me feel better.

It’s ok just tuck your pants in your boots like the army guys do and wear a 10-12 in knife on your side.
Everyone will know your legit!!!!

Go buy you some cheap stuff at academy to get you through your first season. Start checking stores at the end of the month. I like the Under Armor line, bought almost all of my stuff on substantial discounts. They put a ton of gear on clearance. Also check the Rakuten app, they run 10% cash back all the time on a lot of retailers including bass pro.

I wear snake boots year round and carry my 12” Kershaw camp machete on my right boot.

But I only hunt public land and actually use it for its intended purpose quite often. Does that give me a pass?

I quit wearing camouflage when I quit bow hunting. Mainly hunt in shorts and crocks with how warm it is in South Texas.

This got me thinking, I always wear snake boots in South texas, but in East Texas River bottom, I wear lacrosse hip boots. Anyone ever heard of a cotton mouth biting thru hip boots? I like to think they can't.

I used to be a camo snob. Had to be breakup or I wouldn’t wear it. I’m over that now. I hunt ground blinds and box stands a lot so I wear a black hoodie a lot. Still wear mostly breakup but I have a realtree top on with breakup pants as I type this .

Khaki is actually really great camo in a lot of environments. A lot of my actual hunting clothes are khaki or other dark solid colors.

Its also pretty close to OSB for you box stand corn pile sentries

Khaki and crikey also rhyme in some dialects

See how well he blends with the background?

I'm still patiently waiting for spots and stripes to catch on. Cats have had this camo thing figured out forever, and they're orange and white.

I like solid earth tones too...

It's a lame joke but I give store clerks heck over t shirt colors.

Me: Looking for WWII 1943 North Afrika US Army Summer Issue Khaki.

Clerk: You'll never ever find that color.

Me: What, did they stop making brown?

Then they sort of get it.

Lame. I know

My favorite camo story.

In college I got to tag along to hunt fairly often at a great duck camp that a few companies leased to bring customers to.

A lot of times the customers would come to Arkansas, go to Macks, and show up with thousands of dollars in new matching camo. I had a cheap jacket from walmart and some random and ancient camo pilfered from relatives.

On one of those days, we were hunting and the ducks kept flaring. One of the guys who acted as a guide walked out in the hole, walked back up to one of the customers, and asked what color the inside of his camo was. It was brown. He pointed to my 20 dollar walmart jacket, said "that's what yall should be wearing," and made them turn their fancy camo inside out.

18 year old me thought that was awesome.
