Yeah that really stinks. I guess you’re not expecting to have to think in that way when people show up at your door 6 months later.

I don’t carecwhy or who but if any state or federal employee asks to come in my house I’m asking if they have a warrant. If they don’t I’m politely telling them no and shutting the door. Next day I’m calling my families attorney and waiting until they return with a warrant and following my attorneys advice

Yeah. Everyone says this. But you'd be amazed what people actually do and say in that situation. Cops get smart, educated, sophisticated people to admit to things all the time. It's what they do.
It's like me before someone broke into my house: "If I ever catch someone in my house, I'm getting my Glock and turning them into Swiss cheese."
Actual situation arises and I ran screaming like a girl. Passed my truck with my gun going 15 knots. Never even thought about it.
People do funny things under stress.

I was at cypress cove when this shite show went down. Two of the people on the charter came up to me and told me what happened while I was on my rig in a slip in the marina. They said the captain refused to refund them their deposit because of the fuel they burned. Apparently attorneys are getting involved now this should be interesting...

Not in the situation where they were trying to come in my house but when I was younger they stopped my friend and he passed a field sobriety test but they were certain he was on drugs.
Tried to get me to say he was and told me you won’t be in trouble if you just tell us. I kept my mouth shut
They ended up putting him in handcuffs and put him and me (no cuffs just had to ride there) in the back of a squad car and took us to the sheriffs station
When we got there they took him to a room and started interrogating him while they got in my face and kept asking what and when he did something they kept saying just admit to it and you’ll be ok and can leave.
I kept quiet and finally they let me call his mother to come get us since he nor I would say anything and they had no proof plus when I name dropped my uncle (sheriff of that parish) their attitudes changed dramatically
I do understand tho when faced with some new, unexpected, or frightening your heart starts racing and you will do and say things that most times you’d not do or say. That’s why cops use intimidating and underhanded tactics at times.

Did I miss something? I didn’t read where the client was charged with anything.
Is this a joke?
They took a fish that was worth a ton of money away from them. They weren’t charged but essentially were heavily fined.

Are you saying that they lost out on the sale of the fish?

No, essentially they weren’t. For some reason I have a feeling that this charter captain is going to give them a refund one way or another.

When agents boarded the boat, they learned that Cataldie was on a charter with six paying customers without a current U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license, charter guide license and proof of insurance. Additionally, Cataldie was in possession of two yellowfin tuna without the required required Highly Migratory Species Permit for Charter/Headboats issued by NOAA and Louisiana’s free recreational offshore landing permit.
moron
they stopped them at Red Pass
that must have been an awkward ride back in

I hadn’t read the article when I wrote that and figured maybe ol boy was missing one of them!!!
He said hold my beer and watch me get the violation grand slam!!!
Story is somewhat misleading hes not a “charter captain” just a thief charging people to take them fishing.

That dude literally gave no fricks. Wouldn't have been surprised if he stole the boat.

What's the replacement cost of having the meat off of a 200lbs tuna?
where do you see that I said anything about selling the fish?

Again, they had a 200lbs fish and all of the meat from that fish. Tuna is what, $20/lbs?
let's say that they had 80 lbs of fillets off that fish.
That's $1600 worth of fish because the captain was an a-hole.
I don't care if the they get their money back from the captain. That's $1600 worth of goods that is gone.

And he started off by defending himself saying: "I didn't know where I was hunting" And they said: "We can prove that you knew exactly where you were hunting. So, do you want to cooperate with us or not?"
How were they gonna prove this? If he knew or expected he was hunting another state, shame on him.. But if he honestly didn't, how the frick are they gonna prove that?
