if bred right, they are awesome dogs.
Not that I agree with this, but why all the qualifiers? If bred right, if treated right, if trained right. If you have to be that freaking specific, why would anyone take chances.
My opinion, I hate all of them with exception to the ones that kill hogs...because I hate hogs more.
I take that back, unless pit bulls make good sausage..they need to go.

They are good catch dogs. If i see one aroud my house though, its probably gonna get shot. I dont trust any dog that i dont know farther than i can throw it, and pit bulls get less slack than anything else.

You're right, a person would go to jail for killing you on your porch after snacking on the neighbor's kid. Whereas my dog would just strut back to the house a champion.

Meh, whatever, I dont give a shite if its a pit or other breed. Keep it on your own damn property and that bitch can do whatever they want.

I don't like being around them, but I don't dislike someone that has one. As long as they realize that if I'm not at their house. Pit bulls are predisposed to fighting more than any other dog. Their testosterone levels compared to a lab are like comparing that of an NFL player to a small child. I'm sure that some lines are more easily trained than others. But I don't trust any dog that qualifies as a "Pit Bull", no matter the lineage or breeding. Sure you can train a dog to be docile towards you and to others close to you, and feel safe with your chances that it won't snap more than any other dog. You cannot train your dog to be comfortable in EVERY situation and around EVERYONE. Just like a well trained tiger, it should be, if well trained, obedient and docile around its master. But, just like any tiger, no matter how well trained, take it out of it's trained environment(ie your house) or introduce a new element (a new or unfamiliar person) and there is a possibility that it will act on its instincts.

I like chows for boot leather. Pits for gloves.

I think they may be the easiest way to chew the ears off a hog known to man.

I hasn't read any of the 4 pages. But my honest opinion of pitt bulls is this......:
KILL THEM ALL WITH FIRE
KILL THEM ALL WITH FIRE

Let me put it this way. The saying that it is how it is raised not the breed is bullshite.
Throw a untrained lab/lab-mutt a ball and it will bring it back. It's bread into the pup. You don't have to train a retriever to retrieve

Responding to OP without reading thread. I love them. I have a lot of experience with multiple breeds including APBTs. That being said, being a new parent at 37 years old, I would never trust my baby around one that I wasn't 100% familiar with. Of course, I wouldn't trust any breed I wasn't 100% familiar with. The problem is that most breeds bite. That's bad, but when a bull dog bites, they kill shite.

I am an out spoken advocate of the APBT. I think they have gotten a bad rap for the most part, but I am not going to say that Hat isn't correct in this. A "hot blooded" bull dog is a VERY dangerous thing. I have a lot of experience with the "boudreaux" line of dogs and I have seen that about 1 out of 10 are just completely stupid killing machines. 3 out 10 are impulsive and unpredictable. you can't argue it. The line has been engineered to fight and the people that breed them should die in a fire. I do not, however, think they are indicative of the entire breed.
