Probably canoeing in one of these Bob Marshall, Frank-Church, or Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Areas although with a small group. The Selway had something close to a 250 mile shuttle so you pay to have your car driven to the takeout. Solo did 5days of paddling in slot canyons on Lake Powell that was fairly remote and had close to 65 miles of dirt road from the metropolis of Escalante to get to the put in.
Yep to Nevada (and Utah) where you're glad to have twin gas tanks.

Boundary waters in Minnesota/Canada.

I once solo hiked/camped to Eagle Mountain, Minnesota in early December. While I knew the Park Ranger was exaggerating, she warned me that I would be 10-20 miles from the nearest human. In reality, there were probably humans within 5 or so miles. It was a little creepy being that remote on a cold snowy night after the lakes of Boundary Waters were already frozen over.

I did a technical scuba dive that was insane. In every direction it was the wild blue yonder. You can lose your bearings in seconds.

On a elk hunting trip, many years ago, hunted in the Bitterroot mountains in Idaho. Trucked in as far as we could, then packed in with horses to the base camp 1/2 day ride. When going out to hunt, we would ride horseback further into the mountains. We had pack horses with us and would quarter the elk and then ride back to camp, sometimes late into the evening. It was a fun experience for a young man....which I am no longer...

Hunted the Wyoming Thorofare. 8 hour horse back ride in from nearest road. Think it was around 26 miles as the crow flies from nearest road.

Alaska or hunting in the Rockies in Alberta, or the Bush in Saskatchewan.

No where near how far out others have been: I kayaked the Green River in UT. There are two old ranches, Rock Creek and McPherson one on each side of the river. They are only about 30 miles as the crow flies from civilization, but crazy far. They are a 3-4 day float from nearest unimproved road/landing, 2 days by horseback, and only Mcpherson has unimproved roads... about 7hr drive to nearest town.
Insane to think ranchers made a living here into the 1920's:

I was all kinds of tore up, I was planning on that trip myself. I had to cancel, and he went with a friend from Missouri. Both died in Atigun Pass.
Lonely place to die. But I cant think of a better one.

Deep in the Kyrgyzstan mountains, few hours out of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Not much to see in Mongolia but Kyrgyzstan was beautiful.
