I'm sort of stumped for some reason on what to cook. We have 6 guys. I'm thinking whole ribeye, baked potatoes and salad for Friday.

Maybe mess with a gumbo or gravy for Saturday night. It's been a long week and my brain isn't in full gear and I want to do something great for opening weekend. My ideas seem pedestrian.

We don't open till next weekend so it will be me and jr. freezing or nuts off on a deer stand this weekend. Saturday I'm gonna build a bigass duck and oyster gumbo with the 2 bags of ducks I have left from last year.

I'm doing a goose and turnip gravy over rice with a corn maque choux on friday night.

Saturday I'm grilling skin on duck breasts with a blueberry and jalapeno sauce on top and some kind of vegetable.

I hunt with our resident OB waterfowl challenge early season winner, Triggerr, at his camp in Lacassine.

that sounds awesome with a duck liver dirty rice and broccoli. that would mean getting the guys to actually clean some ducks instead of dropping them off at the cleaner!

Wish the weather would be better to give the sac au lait a go.

ETA:

Gumbo and whiskey is the correct answer for Saturday night.

-Fried deer backstrap with country gravy and mashed potatoes
-duck liver and ground venison cornbread dressing with pan seared duck breasts
-chicken and dumplings with cornbread
-specklebelly goose breasts or duck breasts poboys with grilled onions, garlic and mayo
-marinated rabbit on BBQ pit w/grilled veggie skewers
-stuffed bell peppers with deer sausage and wild rice instead of ground beef
-shrimp and grits with bacon

edit: not cooking all of this Just some ideas. Now that I mention it though, may have to do some specklebelly poboys on french bread Saturday night if we have a good hunt that morning.
