Getting stuck in this snow storm made me think about what I'd do if I had to hunker down in my vehicle for a day or two. I was thinking a blanket or sleeping bag, a gallon of water, flashlight, maybe a folding shovel, road flares. This is in addition to stuff like a knife, jumper cables, that i'd have with me anyway.

What does the OB have to add?

Jewish 24 hour candle.

They don't melt in louisiana summers.

I keep a full med kit. Gun. Machete. Recovery gear. Ice scraper/brush combo. 91% alcohol. A bunch of bic lighters. Synthetic ATV winch line. Knife. Coats. Blankets. Water rotopack under the rear floor. Foxhole shovel.

What’s in your med kit? I’m in the process of putting one together myself.

I've got all the standard tools, first aid, and safety stuff but I'll probably be adding to it soon as well.

Call me paranoid but these recent ice storms have got me considering throwing a cheap set of tire chains in our vehicles(4Runner and F250, both 4x4). The idea of being stuck somewhere due to something as simple as ice and not being able to move in the event of an emergency scares the hell out of me.

Lifeboat rations and water (or MREs and bottled water) for up to 3 days.

Lightweight emergency shelter AND emergency sleeping bag. Firestarter kit (or a cache of Bic lighters/lifeboat matches and cotton balls or other cheap tinder). Perhaps one of the small cup stoves with which to boil water, plus a Lifestraw/Sawyer water filter.

A change of clothes or at least underwear/socks, sealed in plastic. Battery/solar charger for cellphone.

Or if the wound is really really bad.

I also keep wet wipes and chef boyardee.

And a small amount of adderall and about 40 packs of pure caffeine 200mg pills.

If all else fails, you'll have the energy to walk out
