Hatteras' are made in New Bern man and out of Wanchese you get Bayliss boats. You will be hard pressed to find two better boats both made in NC. Some of the best offshore fishing on the east coast is the OBX bc of how close the gulf stream is.

I haven't been able to catch a shark yet. That's probably the last thing, and maybe this gets done this winter.
Speechless.

Ah, so you're one of those guys that calls 2-4ft seas 8-10's.
I hate those guys

eta. Awfully small boat for Atlantic ocean access. Usually if you're going out any distance, a 54' is about the minimum.

Outerbanks. Not familiar with that.
You own a 54' convertible and are not familiar with the Outerbanks?

Went 200 miles one way this weekend in a 31ft center console. Our boat must identify as a 54ft since we are still alive

First year with pinkie ring on while in Hatteras was last winter. No rough seas when I was down last winter. 2-3 winters ago the wind blew more than normal. We got a constant 10' about 6 miles out. Almost like clockwork. Never got to the elephants. No need to go that far out off of SE Florida. You're in 300' in no time. 10 ft. waves my boat goes straight into them. The 12 footers we just rocked with while fishing, although we went straight into these as well. Usually I like about 2-4 for sailfish. That's the best where I go. Almost like a exaggerated walleye chop. Took a guy from Philly. I told him to stay outside, in the middle, and stare at the condos on shore. He didn't listen to me. That was a mess to clean up. Taco took me to Cuba in his boat when I was still in my late 20's, early 30's. We weren't supposed to be there, and that might be one of the stupidest things I've done. Lucky we didn't get in trouble. That was well before I owned this boat, and got him set up as a charter captain.
Dear Diary, Iowa Golfer does indeed know the difference between a 2-3 ft sea, and a 10-12 ft sea. And a predictable 10 ft in the Atlantic is much, much safer than anything half this size on Lake Michigan. Iowa Golfer likes rough seas, so long as it is safe. Taco likes it even rougher. He once sent me pics of him being out in my boat pre hurricane. Taco is crazy though, and I am not.

I think he has 6-8 54 footers. I looked quick to see if I could find a picture of my baby. No luck. That's Taco. He and I went to Cuba illegally. I hooked Taco up more than he hooked me up. I have no idea what he owes on his boats, but I think his net worth in boats is probably pretty big right now.
I bought mine for 78, put about 90 into it. I think I could probably get 200-300 if it got cleaned up.
It has been entertaining. The first year I ever had enough money to go to Florida I started making 48K that year. shite, I could barely afford to be down there. The tech boom was going on. I was the poorest guy in SoFla.
But money was easy, and I got a beat up boat, and my first condo. Rode it all the way up, ate Raman noodles for years when the market crashed. Made it through. Barely. Came out pretty good. Could have gone either way.
I'd never been on the ocean before. I'd fished for bass, etc. up here, and always stopped in Elijay, Ga on the way down to fly fish for trout in the foothills of the Apps.
The first time he took me out Hillsboro, and it was rough, I was scared shitless. That's where I learned stay outside, or close, and always watch the shore to prevent throwing up. I remember laying down in bed that night. Not recommended. I think he goes out of Ft. Lauderdale now, but I always go out Hillsboro since I'm in Pompano.
Man I had a lot of fun, and took some huge gambles with my money back then.
But yeah, that's Taco. Funny guy. USA and Trump all the way with him. I haven't seen him in about 3 years. I'm gonna hook up with him this winter.

You haven’t seen the captain of your boat in 3 years?
