What kind of animal would eat only the head of other animals?

Found a dead chipmunk in my front yard with its head eaten off. Figured it was an owl or cat but I just found what I believe is a dead adolescent cat in my backyard. Only its head has been eaten. Rest of body was untouched. Neck bone was still sticking out.
We’ve had foxes running around since the weather’s gotten warmer. Would they kill a chipmunk and a cat just to eat the head? I read owls might do that, but could an owl kill a cat?
Edit:
This scat was found right next to it.

I think it’s time you have a sit down with your kids, they need to know certain things are crossing the line
ETA: all jokes aside maybe a great horned owl, obviously that’s not owl shite but it doesn’t look like coon shite either. Also I’m not sure a coon would tussle with even a adolescent cat, I could be wrong though. Have you heard any owls around your area at night? When I lived in Thibodaux there was a Owl in the neighborhood that would pick off stray kittens

Minks do that. RIP the head off and suck the blood out the body. They got 4 of my 7 chickens like that.

Killer whales or Orcas kill Great Whites and only eat their livers. They kill Seals and only eat certain parts, like the head. I think I have heard they kill those big whales by hunting them in packs and only eat their stomachs leaving a gigantic carcass to waste.

That's interesting, same thing happened to my uncles chickens a few weeks ago.

Chupacabra is the only correct answer.

Hawk. Pull head and esophagus out, then move on to the next pet. Seen it many times.

We have a barred owl that lives in our backyard. Can’t imagine it’d want to frick with a cat. But maybe the cat climbed the tree and spooked it into a fight?
Just weird that it was missing a head. The left side of it was on the ground and infested with maggots in what may have been an open wound. Couldn’t tell though because I was disposing of it quickly.
