I was off of work, so I did all of my fishing during the week. Went to Henderson 3 days. Despite the extremely high water I was able to find some fish. Although I couldn't seem to get on anything of decent size.
Monday:
Bassin Henderson 6-12-17
This was my only solo trip, so it's the only one I brought the GoPro. Caught 10, kept 8.
Tuesday:
Brought my wife bream fishing for a few hours. Also threw a few bass baits just for giggles. We caught a bunch of small bream, but only a handful of hammers. Also caught one small bass.
Thursday:
Me and an old buddy of mine spent almost all day on the water. Fished hard for 6 bass in the morning, fished for bream early in the afternoon, left for a couple hours to go eat, then went back in the afternoon and caught another 7 bass. We worked hard for those fish. My podnah tore up the bream, but I caught every single bass. It was pissing him off.

6 mahi off the coast of key west.
Personally, 1 trolling and 1 on the fly. Biggest was 19 pounds. Drank a pile of white cans but ran out with 2 hours to go

Fished out of the kayak in Grand Isle. 6 trout Saturday morning, 14 trout Sunday morning. Buddy that was with me caught 13 today as well.
Set 2 crab traps on the beach and only caught 4, guess they're not there yet.

Nice, I used the tips you gave me through FB and managed to catch 6 keepers Friday and another 5 Saturday evening. Wish I knew what it looked like at a normal level, probably could have done better. My map showed me on land but I was in 9' of water. Never had enough action to turn on the gopro but maybe later this week.

Nice haul bro.
Remember the guy who gave you tips on D'arbonne ? I was up there this weekend and caught 40-50 bream off our dock, cleaned 16 for lunch today.
See my post about my frozen motor, sucks.

Glad I could help, baw!
I'm no expert on Henderson, but when I first started fishing there several years ago I couldn't find any help from anyone. It's like everything was a damn secret. I couldn't even get people to tell me the names some of the places and canals and stuff. So I help people when I can. I won't give you everything, but I'll give you enough. Watch the Pelba water gauge. When it gets under 11 feet make another trip there. It'll be a lot different.

50 trout Friday, pretty good size. 46 trout, 1 red Sunday am all in Grand Isle. Rested Saturday and watched LSU baseball!
Fridays fish all caught out front, Sunday's all caught inside.

Is there anywhere close a man could stay for a weekend trip when the water level drops? Hotels or cabins to rent?

I don't know about cabins or anything like that. Some people rent houseboats out there I've been told, but I don't really know how to contact them.
There's hotels in Breaux Bridge right off the interstate. Or you could stay in Lafayette. It's only about 15-20 minutes away.

A pile of ARS, some yellowfin, grouper, longtail sea bass, mangroves, and beeliner. Weatherman missed the forecast terribly this weekend. Still managed to put some good fish in the box though.

Limit of 15 reds in the Biloxi Marsh Saturday AM
Dieseltiger and I have caught over 100 in the same spot since April 1. Of that 100+ only 1 has been a bull and only 1 rat red

Went offshore in a bay boat Saturday despite being prrrretty sporty all day. Saw one other boat. Caught our 3 man limit of mangroves and reds. It was fun.

I'm not a saltwater fisherman outside of throwing for some specs. Let's just say I was going to be on grand isle in 4 weeks and that's what I wanted to catch, what kinda setup you running to haul them in. I've got a revo sx and a heavy action rod. What you say?
ETA: I'm always game to buy a new setup and I may have access to a nice sized boat.

For snapper? You're gonna want a heavier spinning setup. Or something like a senator or tekota. You can probably find a reasonably priced penn combo that'll do trick
