Over the course of last 2 cuts my weed eater has gone to shite. Have no trouble starting it but it has no power. Sounds terrible, suffocating like. and has steadily just weakened w the power output.

Carb? Any thoughts?

Have you replaced the air filter? If not, try to run it without to see if there is a change. If so, there's your issue.

(sometimes during storage, the fuel/oil mixture leaks from the carb into the filter and reduces air flow-through)

Sounds like either the filter screen inside the carb is about half stopped up or your exhaust screen is clogged.

They put a screen between the muffler and the head as a spark arrestor. This often gets clogged up. Take off the muffler remove screen. Profit.

Try your air filter first. I've had one crap out on me mid-use in dusty conditions.

There are two adjustment screws on the carb. One is for idle and one is for run. Look on you tube for how to adjust them. Also what everyone else said about the filters and such.

TruFuel

I only use it for end-of-season before storage. My Stihl trimmers run much better when I mix my own fuel with 89-octane.

I have a low-end Murray weedeater, a real rattly piece of shite, I have had it almost three years. I use nothing but true fuel in it. I don't even run it dry before storage.

It has never taken more than 2 pulls to crank it. In fact, I just used it last weekend for the first time in 6 months and it started up on the first pull.

Tru-Fuel is worth every penny in tiny motors. Every fricking penny.

Once you get your problem sorted out, start using Tru-Fuel and never frick with this again.

That's all I have to say about the matter.

Change out your air filter first, if that dont work throw it away, buy a new one and don't run anything but the prwmixed, ethanol free, 91 octane fuel in it that comes in the can.

Like people have said exhaust screen or the fuel lines may be ethanoed up.

Amazon has complete kits of carbs, filters, hoses, and spark plug. That's should everything it could be.

Small engines are easy with a little YouTube.

1) One If the largest trimmer mfg which has an R&D plant in Tempe, AZ test all their handheld products with true fuel.

Pretty cool to see how the people come up with stuff and rooms with screens turn off lights and what you write on it disappears. Designed for tours and if they don’t want people seeing what they are doing they can hide stuff.

Then the have computers hooked to equipment and test emissions.

2) Sound like something obstructing air flow in or exhaust.
- I would check basic air filter and they have spark arrestor screen.
- Then dig down check fuel lines and primer bulb to make sure no fuel leaks.
- Check Carb make sure jet not clogged.
- The last adjust high and low speed on carb easy H is for high speed and L for low speed.
Check one at running speed and one at idle.
Pull carb adjustment tools from your walbro carb kit or use electrical connector on end of screw driver and form to shape of H & L adjustment. This what carb tool kit looks like for small handheld engines.

I think it’s better. Had a chainsaw that sat up for about 4 years couldn’t get it started. Drained the old fuel, added this and it started and ran just fine. Really gives an engine a good kick.

Some have a flame arrester screen shite on the exhaust. Take a screwdriver to that fricker and run the hell out of it.

Damn Ryobi shite I had once fricked up after a year. I rodded that screen out (think clogged cat) and it ran forever like a champ.
