Mates, I think this gun is really cool looking and wanted to see if you think this is a good choice for me. The lad at the gun store was trying to steer me away from this for a more powerful make and caliber, but those weren't nearly as stylish imo.

I like that it's Saints colours and has a futuristic vibe. I picture it going "pew pew pew" more like a space laser that Elroy from "The Jetsons" would use than a traditional cowboy gun.

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

Since it’s your first gun it’s great for practicing and learning how to shoot as well a varmit control but that’s about it.
A 22cal is a poor choice for a defensive pistol and shouldn’t be purchased as one.

22 is a great gun for a first time buyer. It isn't the best choice for self defense obviously but it is a great gun to start shooting and get more comfortable with firearms. And as far as 22 pistols go, the Ruger Mark IV is one of the best options. Buy it

If you want .22lr, I’d get the Glock 44. It’ll get you more in the feel for everyday carry pistols. Plus they’re $379 at Academy.

22LR Kills just fine

That’s a good gun but there are better options in 22LR handguns these days offered by Walther, SIG, Glock, etc. that mimic their larger calber options with more capacity.

For self defense in 22LR, a 32grain Stinger round will mess up any human’s day.

My Glock 44 was a total POS. Failure to feed and ejector issues. My Ruger MK IV never has an issue.

Here is what I told my mom when we went out to buy her a pistol. If you can’t shoot it because you’re afraid of the recoil, it is no good for you. I bought her a ruger sr22 that fit her small hands and she could take the bullseye out at 10 yards.
And with cci’s new uppercut ammo, it will ruin a thugs day.

The Mark IV are fantastic pistols. As for the terrible color pattern, that's on you. As well as that gay arse "vibe/ cool" shite you said too in your post

You really are still a euro sissy!

But seriously, go to a gun range and try out different ones. Most places let you rent them and will walk you through gun safety, loading, etc.

Would rather my pistol go pow pow pow than pew pew pew. You want cool noises get a light saber and Vader mask.

If you are buying a gun for all those "reasons", you will probably shoot yourself or someone else with it.

I vote you buy a cool water pistol.

Buy whatever gun you're excited about.

My ONLY commentary on your choice of 22 is that 22's jam up a lot. i know nothing about the mark model you posted, but looks like some people here know they're quality arms!

welcome to the club. gun ownership is such an important part of our culture. i think there is a responsibility for every male to own at least 1 side arm, 1 shotgun, and 1 real rifle.

Excellent choice. The ergonomics are very close to a 1911. Also, a lot of people use .22 automatics for the shooting portion of their concealed carry training.

But then, I don't really believe you're being serious.
