re: UPDATE: Bought the VP9 // Buying my first pistol and deciding between Glock 19 and HK VP9

UPDATE: I bought the VP9 this weekend, and I love it. I got it in grey. Came with the night sights and 3 mags.
I did have a few frustrating feeding problems yesterday while breaking it in. It was pretty disappointing, but it went away after about 100 rounds.
I'm still happy with the purchase. As some people in here say, it is the best out of the box gun. I don't plan on customizing it much except for adding a light to it for home protection.
Thanks for the feedback yall.

What ammo did you use during break in?

I just bought some range ammo from the gun show. I don't remember the name of it. I'm sure I didn't do it right. What is the best way to break it in?

Now, lose the ears:
Get a mad well:
Just kidding, but HKParts.net is addictive to look through.

1,000 rounds is what I usually go by to break in a new weapon.
Some people I know say 500. Some say 250. I believe 1,000 rounds helps to learn the feel of the weapon and get used to the recoil and reloading of it. If it is for self-defense and CC 1,000 rounds at the Range should get you into the comfort zone of the weapon.
Everybody’s different, though.

Just did some research and now I know that I used 115gr Freedom Munitions. I only bought 100 rounds of it, and was not a fan. I plan on buying some more now, but will be trying out a different brand.

I run this Ventura ammo through my HK with great results.
Ventura 9mm 115gr rounds
147gr

Is that a good price? I have never shopped ammo before. When I bought our pistols, I just bought a box they had.

You're supposed to be shooting more than one damn box. Hopefully that box was self defense ammo, the linked ammo I posted is range ammo. I think a quarter per shot is pretty damn cheap.

Very nice gun, I have a want. Like others have said, and I know it sounds like a lot, but go put 1000 rounds through it over the next several months.

I always order my practice ammo from Midway. Their customer service is excellent and the price on the cheap stuff is comparable to the super cheap sketchy websites. Thanks creepy larry!

Hurts bad, man.

I use remington UMC to break in. Main thing is avoid steel case. Some guns eat it no problems and others nothing but issues.
