My boss wants to take us on a tuna charter. Thinking Venice over GI because of the shorter run. Is July a good time for yellow fin? Recommendations? Thanks

Went out with relentless charters last weekend. Tuna conditions were shite because of the weather but they put us on other fish all day. I highly recommend them. Chaz or mike

When you include the 20 miles of running in the river, it's only like 10 miles shorter to the lumps.

Also, the canyon is only like 35 miles out of Belle Pass. We hammered the yellowfin on a trip with Chris Moran's guys a few years ago in the canyon.

I went in July. It happened to be flat calm and 4 of us caught 15-20 blackfin and 4 yellowfin between 60-90lbs. Fished at night to beat the heat.

Oh, and you can catch tuna year round. Just need to get lucky with the weather this time of year. If the tuna fishing is shite, you can still go tear up drum.

Pittman is a good one. You can't go wrong with him or Eddie Berger. I'm cooking tuna this evening from a recent trip with Pittman.

I was at the Venice marina last Friday and every charter that came in was loaded up with tuna and red snapper.

I fished last Friday and no one caught tuna. A lot of snapper were caught but we sat around the marina and didn't see but two small black fin come in. The weather was shite. We couldn't even find bait that morning every charter boat was looking but bait fish couldn't be found. It was a strange day for fishing.

I fished with Mike from Relentless 2 years ago and it was hands down the worst tuna trip I have ever been on.

OP, tuna are always out there. In the summer months, most YF tuna are in the 60-80lb range.
