I qualify for a lot of proffered pricing, but it currently isn't being offered on any 4x4 models.

They gave it to me on a 4x4 Tundra. But is wasn't much! lol. I wasn't too concerned though since Toyota rarely gives big rebates.

On the CPI report that was released on Tuesday, used car prices had jump almost 10% month over month>

They were up 21 from this time last year

Looks like I won't be getting that nee truck I have been thinking about.

I can't wait for the day that the dealership model is made obsolete.

It's close now depending on what you buy. Some manufacturers have 4-5 trim levels with little to nothing in the way of add-ons, so cross-shopping from one dealer to the next isn't that hard. Now if it's Toyota or some American trucks good luck, because they have so much variation in addition to trim levels it's close to impossible to compare apples to apples.

My last two new car/truck purchases were completely painless, but they were a Honda and a Mazda and the trim levels I was looking at were all nearly identical from one dealer to the next. Email dealerships within however far you're willing to drive, tell them what you want, get quotes. Go pick up the car.
