To Peg or Not to Peg

Do you guys peg your weight when bass fishing? Whether it be Texas rigged or whatever.
Is it a consistent thing for you (always do or always don't) or is it situational?
Not sure I subscribe to the thought that you lose more fish although I do understand the physics behind it. It's just not something that I have personally experienced.
I never did until about a year ago then have been using it in certain situations. Just curious to see whats the OBs thoughts.
TIA

Thick cover when pitching, Yes. I keep toothpicks in by box for this

Depends on how much red wine is flowing.

I thought this thread was gonna be about when I have my ol lady frick me in the arse with a strap on. The answer to that is To Peg.
I don't know enough about your style of pegging to comment though.

Peg when around brush or trying to get through matted grass
No-peg when dragging off the bank or fishing a drop off

I prefer docking. Pegging can cause things to get too agape.

Lots of varieties.

Texas rig I peg every time; most times I peg against the soft plastic but sometimes I may peg 15-18" above the soft plastic (I do this when I have to fish it slower and I want it off the bottom)
Makes it easier to cast and I'm a ton more accurate & it's quieter going in the water

I only peg when in heavy cover, or trying to present in a certain way. Seems like a hassle when fishing most scenarios imo

Very productive way to fish it.

I always peg Punching and Texas rig using rubber sinker stoppers but I know other fishermen who peg for punching but not Texas rig.

I peg only when punching grass or thick brush. No need to peg when fishing a normal texas rig. Also pegging when it isn't needed gives fish more weight by the hook that could allow them to spit it.

When using a heavy weight to punch, I peg the weight. For that application it’s necessary.
For TX rigs, I almost never peg the weight. Usually only if I’m flipping thick brush and getting hung. Some people will peg when trying to skip baits, but it doesn’t seem to be an issue for me.
