Either your commercial echo needs a rebuild or you're mistaken, because the bigger (35cc) Honda makes 1.3hp from the factory. Even the 30cc "commercial" echo makes 1.8hp, and the bigger commercial stuff is over 2hp. The Honda also weighs over 15 pounds.....

The Honda is probably smoother and quieter but just like outboards, 4 strokes are going to be at a deficit when it comes to power/weight ratio compared to a 2 stroke. You can't beat physics.

Stihl Kombi system for me. Excellent and like the versatility of being able to use multiple attachments.

Depending on what you want to do and how much you have to do. Years ago when we lived in the suburbs, I had a little battery powered B&D. All I had to cut was around a few trees, down the driveway and along the house.
When we moved to our current property several years ago, my battery powered unit didn't last 10 minutes in the heavy stuff around the lake.
Also, will you put any other type of head on it such as the saw blade or free moving blades? If you are going to cut bigger stuff with these types of heads or if you have lots to cut, then I would definitely go with gas powered.
I have a Stihl and it has been fantastic. Usually takes me two full tanks to finish all of the trimming and a battery powered unit just won't handle that.
If you don't have much to cut and what you do cut is not heavier stuff, then battery powered would definitely work.
Good luck!

All very good advice, but his first sentence was literally "Gotta be gas powered."

My Echo SRM2xxx is still running strong after 20 years. Finally replaced the carb & primer 3 years ago. Pretty much have run it with unleaded gas & Stabil since the beginning.
After handling a new Dewalt 20v unit, I'm hoping to keep the Echo going as long as I can.

I have the Dewalt. We have a yard crew but my wife wanted to be able to do touch-up work (I have no idea why) and I didn’t want to hear “I can’t get this to crank” every time she wanted to use it. I have Dewalt 20V stuff so that was the most painless solution for me. It works well for light use but if I did all the yard work I wouldn’t get one unless I lived in one of those all-house-no-yard subdivisions. My chainsaws and blower are Stihl, and once I discovered Seafoam they crank right up even with sporadic use.

True enough.

I have a stihl KM90 that I like a lot. Going on 5 or 6 years now with no issues. I have the blower and pole saw heads for it as well and get lots of good use from all of them. The little turbine style blower is pretty cool.

Whatever you get buy the gas that comes premixed in a can and use that. I'm on year 6 or 7 with a $110 Murray M2510 from WalMart that has been a beast. 2 weeks ago I had to replace a fuel hose which took 10 minutes.

Stihl and use non-ethanol gas. You'll be good for a very long time. My stihl weed eater and blower have both cranked with no issue every time since 2012

Got this very one a couple years ago and it is a beast. Easy to load line, starts easily, bump feature to advance line works great, not too heavy and in the 2 years I've used it I've never had any problems with it.
ETA: I do use non-ethanol gas in it and all my lawn and other gas powered tools.

Echo SRM-225, the best $199 I ever spent on a lawn tool. It’s 6-7 years old, you pump the primer bulb 5 times, put in on choke, pull twice, it tries to start, you take it off choke and pull 1 time, it starts, idle 45 seconds to a minute and start cutting, doesn’t matter how thick the grass is. It runs .095” trimmer line, I’ve changed the plug 1 time, removed the spark arrestor screen and cleaned the air filter. Non-ethanol gas may be great for it but I’ve ran regular with ethanol mixed with synthetic 2 cycle oil for over 6 years without any problems.
