Bought and echo 225 five years ago. Been great.

If I needed more I would have picked a redmax. They are absolute animals. My father in laws is old as dirt and still powerful as hell. More than I need but still almost bought one.

Tru fuel and call it a day.

Once I started using Tru fuel it's been great.

Also I realize you say it HAS to be gas powered, but the large volt models work great for a long time. Unless you're going through multiple tanks of gas, you'll be surprised how good they are.

Also, Fuel isn't exactly cheap anymore.

My Stihl Combi has been flawless for years. But you cant go wrong with Echo, Shindaiwa, Redmax, etc..

Another vote for Echo. Have had my Echo 225 since 2012. Replaced the fuel lines either once or twice (cant recall). Started using that canned fuel, which seems to run it better.

All very good advice, but his first sentence was literally "Gotta be gas powered."

The OP might not be aware that the current 40 volt and higher electric equipment leaves the gas powered stuff hanging in the garage. I use a 40v Greenworks weed trimmer, I have 1 acre with a lot of driveway, fences , and trees to trim. After using the electric trimmer part of last summer I gave away my Echo, never going back to gas power.

Another recommendation for Stihl Kombi. Pick the power head that best suits your needs.

I'm with you 4LSU2... I went with the 80V Kobalt and will never go back to gas. Added the leave blower and totally happy with both. I whack about 400 feet of fence plus misc other stuff and can usually make 4 runs on a charged battery.

I have a pair of Stihl Kombi units, both have been flawless. Echo is an excellent brand too, my blower is an Echo 250LN. Only brands that I have personally owned that have been disappointments are Troy-bilt and Husqvarna.

I've had an echo SRM-230 for 15 years. I have to admit I like the new high voltage brushless tools, but batteries are expensive. My echo has needed nothing but fuel lines and a spark plug in that time.
