I do this now in town because I don't see as well as I used to and don't want to miss someone I know.

. Allow me to clarify, he (my old man) would wave at everyone even when we were 3 hrs from the house.

Growing up in a small town you waved at everybody cause you knew everybody. I remember people (teens) honking their horns when they drove by your house.

I’ve been doing this exact wave for over 30 years. Thought maybe AlxTiger took it when we went fishing. ??

Reckon I’m the epitome of a “baw”.

Not a baw, but I have done this my whole life. When my yankee husband came down here, I showed him this wave. At the time we were in north Mississippi on country roads and almost everybody did it. He thought this was hilarious. We would bet on which vehicles would do it and which ones wouldn't.

Mine has always done the same. Now I catch myself thinking it too when people don't wave back...

I've thought about this several times over the past few years. Going back 15+ years ago, everyone waved, especially if you were in a truck.

Now, basically no one waves around here.

When I moved to Baton Rouge from North Louisiana in 1997, it was one of the first things that I noticed. I waved at other trucks, and nobody ever waved back or they look like they thought I was crazy.

Still a thing with motorcycles and boats. But the south Louisiana bawls done lost the spirit.

Long ago, a friend of mine got pissed of at another friend cuz he waved at him and the other guy just did a slow up down nod of his head as he went by.
“ Stuck up mofo! “ he told me. “ didn’t even wave!”
