So I am posted out in the backyard tending to a pork butt, slightly drunk with some tunes going.

I catch movement and glance just in time to see a tail going under the corner of the shed. It is the tail of a real tree rat! Not squirrel but actual rat.

It is now me, my 4yr Olds Buck bb gun, the OCTfest, brought a ice chest out, and tunes waiting him out.

Hoping to stun him with a dome shot bc I dont think this bb gun will do the job except maybe point blank.

I was going to say that todays BB guns would only piss off a rat if you shot him but It probably wouldn’t even piss him off. Damn lawyers ruin everything.

When I worked on a hog farm, we kept a 22 revlover in the biggest barn, for killing rats. That was the about the only fun part of that job.

My female cat that just turned one keeps my shop and barn and sheds cleared out. The male can only catch grasshoppers. He's about to get cut off from cat food if he doesn't step up his game.

Will normal cats tangle with decent size rats?

Growing up we had a feral Tom cat that had to be part bobcat. He was huge and built like a BC. He killed a raccoon in the hayloft and ate some it, his face looked like a national geographic show when the lions are covered in blood.

I can't tell you I know the answer, but I believe cats are pound for pound the most ferocious fighters in the animal kingdom. A large rat can also levy some pain so it depends on who gets who first, but I believe a cat would likely win that one.

My australian shepherd in her fighting days killed a raccoon the same size as her. Woke me up in the middle of the night hearing something screaming outside and thought my dog broke her leg or something. Looked out and she's just rag dolling a raccoon. Had to go shoot a raccoon in my tiny backyard with a .22. As soon as I shot the gun, I heard the neighbor's toilet flush so I know they heard.

good clean headshot won't ruin any meat and no need for a tracking dog

the full rug mount came out perfect.
Local taxi charged me $37.19 which I thought was a good deal

The closest thing I have seen was a speckled King. My Asian neighbors absolutely freaked out and convinced me to allow the man of the house to cement him into my foundation where the snake was hiding.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread other than to say that I hate rats more than any animal in the entire world, I hope they all die, and if I saw one run under my shed, I would probably just set fire to the whole property and walk away.

Am I the only person here that saw the title of this thread and got excited… only to be disappointed when it was about a rat instead of a mink?

My outdoor cat will kill the shite out of anything smaller than her. Squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, shrews, mice, flying squirrels (wtf?).......
