Does Louisiana allow registering these vehicles provided to add turn signals / lights / DOT tires, etc?

I've done some reading and have seen where LA deleted a ruling on this in 2013. Just curious.

Have been meaning to ask about this too.
A few weeks ago I saw a couple driving some type of UTV on the street it looked like a smaller jeep with a plastic body.

I was surprised when a cop went by, and didn't pay them any attention.

There’s the new Mahindra Roxor but it’s not a street
Legal Jeep. Yamaha makes some nice street legal golf carts

I have no idea what it was. It was on a state highway, and not a neighborhood street.

You sure about that? I was under the impression that they were street legal with the right upgrades.

They are, but dealer can't do the upgrades. That's what I was told by the dealer...

The story I heard is they lack airbags (safety equipment) and will not pass the EPA standard for emissions.

After doing some research online it appears both of these statements are correct (mostly). Each state varies on their requirements on what can be made road legal. Like you could probably make one legal in MS but would have a hard time in more strict states. A windshield is a generally a state requirement and mahindra will or already does offer that option.

I wonder if you were in a state with strict requirements if you could have it made legal in a lax state first. Then maybe the transfer would be easier. I dunno.

You can register golf carts/UTVs as a Low speed vehicle, but you can only go on streets with the speed limit 35mph or lower.

You need to have seatbelts, glass windsheild with wiper, blinkers, headlights, taillights, and a horn.

Just got back from a trip and there are UTV's all over the road out west, specifically Wyoming, SD and Montana.

Seems they are way more relaxed on them just as they are most other things, we just have far too many idiots in the south to be able to have nice things.

Some how it is possible. I’ve been looking into getting one.
I was driving from Mandeville to madisonville this am. Dude driving one the other way had a LA plate on it. I turned around in traffic trying to find him. No luck catching him.

If I wanted to run around street ride, I'd look at a Slingshot.

Yes... You can find a way to legally drive on the street.

No... It will never be 100% legal.

What’s the point? Why do you need a street
Legal UTV? Are you gonna run down the block to your deer stand?

I’m not really hating on the idea, I just don’t understand it. If you want to go down the road, take your car. If you want to go down the road on a UTV, move to the sticks and use (cane) fields.
