Strange (but cute) squirrel situation

Neighbor calls, there’s a baby squirrel following her. Hubs gets out there and the little squirrel walks right up to him. Theres a second young squirrel that climbs down the tree to him. They are currently in a box; one eating pecans and the other sleeping.
They are young, but old enough to climb up and down trees. I’ve dealt with babies before, but never seen a young squirrel walk up and WANT to be caputured. They both are super content in the box and don’t seem to want to go back up the tree. Any advice?

First, you make a roux.

Someone was raising them and decided to stop raiseing them, so the released them

had a baby squirrel once and found out you have to massage its genitals to make it go to the bathroom that was when I realized I no longer needed to keep the baby squirrel

My dad told me that he had one as a kid and they made pretty cool pets.

Raised one from a couple days old. Turns out the lil bastards live a long time as pets. This one made it 11 years.

I grew up with one in our house. Named Bubba. He hid pecans in our jacket pockets. ???? when puberty hit, he was an angry little critter.

My parents have a friend that raised a squirrel and it basically became like an outdoor cat after 5-6 months. They started off giving it milk, no idea how young it was. Then nuts and what not. Anyway now it lives in their backyard and they take some nuts out back once a day or so and it will come down and eat out of their hand. Pretty cool.
But it lives on its own and does as it wants. If you have some oaks or other nut tree so in your yard, I don’t see why this wouldn’t work for most situations. Their feeding in the south is pretty simple.

We raised a few when I was a kid.. after they were full grown we would turn them loose in the big oak in our yard. One would get between the screen door and the regular door at night. She would make noise until we let her in. After a few months to a year they would integrate back into being a wild squirrel and stop coming around..

i had walk up my drive way and straight to me a few years back. we played with him a few minutes then i took him down the road where there was some big woods. i didn't want a cat in the neighborhood to get it.
