Looking for feedback back on these brands. Will be a Christmas gift for my deckhand who has never had a new shotgun. Price point is under $750.
Gimme yo best 411.

Check out the Weatherby element. I have two and I love them. And they are cheap.

I recently got a good deal on a Weatherby 18i 12 gauge. It’s been a great gun so far. Stoeger is owned by Benelli which is owned by Beretta. I’m sure it’s a good gun too.

I bought my teenage son a Stoeger a few years ago. It's alright but I would spend ~$50 more and get a Franchi.

Cousin shoots a Stoeger 3500. It kills and misses ducks like any other shotgun. He’s had no issues except it’ll knock your teeth fillings loose with 3.5” turkey loads.

Bought a Stoeger 3” for my son. Had to return because it wouldn’t cycle. They fixed/replaced the extractor and it’s flawless now.

Would not buy again though.

Had a 20 gauge weatherby element and it wouldn’t cycle light loads for crap. Got a Franchi and it eats whatever you feed it

Stoeger has been my rabbit and duck gun for the past ten years. I can't say it points as naturally as some of the higher-dollar guns, but I kill birds with it just the same. I just can't justify spending $2,000 on a shotgun at this point in my life.

If you go with the Stoeger, I'd recommend upgrading the extractor to a Benelli M2 and changing the spring right away. With enough use, those parts will eventually wear out, so it's worth addressing them before it costs you a hunt.

I have a stoeger as my backup duck gun and I highly reccomend it. I prefer inertia to gas. As others have said, around Xmas time sometimes you can find the A300 for under $700 bucks. Also a great gun. I may get one in 20 gauge for the women and childrun

Thanks for the reply’s
Gun will probably see limited duty but I’m not buying any HiPernt or Tristar junk for a gift. He has a 20 pump so he may get another 20 in semi.
