I went for the first and only time about 10 years ago. Duck hunted, didn’t do very well. But I remember there was this bar that we watched the saints game on, it was in middle of nowhere. Legit may have been a small shack in a cane field. It was awesome. Anyone know if it is still there?

I’ve had good luck and bad luck with buying used. I did my due diligence and like others said, steered clear of any with a ton of non factory improvements (I.e lifts, snorkel, huge tires etc) I got it used and it was fairly clean. 7 months in found out it’s burning oil and probably gonna have to replace engine.

Nothing I could have done when I purchased this to know. Sucks, but part of it.

You ever see any deer up there? I imagine the locals/ farmers care way more about their deer than the ducks.

I’d be interested in taking my dog. How difficult do you think that would be?
I bought 2 pairs of Roger’s merino wool socks and I’ve enjoyed them. I think it’s $9 for two pair. Wore them all weekend airing out at night over various temps (both hot ~72ish to cold 30s) with no issue.

Is opening day of rifle (16) too late to effectively call?

Tri Star Shotgun

Anyone shot these? Have an Sbe3 and stoeger in 12g as my back up duck gun. Have a dedicated 20g turkey gun. Want to get a synthetic stock 20g to use in the timber and also to have my wife and kid shoot more comfortably.

Not looking to absolutely break the bank. So Benelli is out.

The XRM is awesome but unless you are doing serious muddling or riding, it’s unnecessary. I would highly recommend the can am limited or Polaris northstar. Both are fine, I prefer can am, but the climate control, and doors and windows, are such a game changer- especially for kids and wives.

I never thought I would be one of those guys, and it’s not really the cold that bothers me (especially with the heat the engines put out and my hunting clothing) but not being covered in mud and dust and dirt when riding along with the A/C when cruising logging roads in the summer is a game changer. Having a flip up windshield no doors is fine when you are moving, but when crawling along it gets hot.
A legendary coach who ran a highly specialized unique offense that literally no one else runs that he spent 4 years recruiting and building up for… combined with the college football landscape having the most change in 100 years ushered in during this time. As well as playing at 4 playoff teams. Yikes
Is that dude the special ed fella?
Can-am. I’m biased but they are nicer.

The reality is, the are about the same. One does certain stuff better than the other, there are different pros and cons, etc. if you treat them right and maintain correctly, can’t really go wrong with either. I would also look at where you will be getting them serviced and what is the closest and cheapest option for service close to you.

I also really like the new Kawasaki ridges.
I have the 4 auto feature, and use it at the duck camp for gravel roads when they are slick and for driving in the snow. Do this many people really use it for the rain too, on normal
Streets? I guess it’s not a huge deal cus it only engages when needed. But that is baffling to me

Flooding in Arkansas

Posted by DanielBooned on 6/16/25 at 9:49 am
Anyone else impacted by the flooding? Based on what I’m seeing and hearing, more than 30% of the crops in NE Arkansas are ruined. The entire town of Grubbs is still underwater.

Many farmers are not planting this year. I think it could be a very rough duck season…. Trying to figure out alternatives. Any old timers ever recall a season where just no crops were put out?

Dirt legal or Streetlegal USA

Posted by DanielBooned on 6/11/25 at 11:33 am
Anyone ever tried or heard of this? Basically these companies do all the work to get a UTV street legal, by forming a MT LLC. I’m intrigued. I would have to pay sales tax if I register it in my state.
I have turned away from first lite as they are not durable. Several of my items from them are pilling.

I hear you on the kuiu patterns, and agree: but me and most of the baws I hunt with are switching to solid earth tone (brown, olive; black; etc) colors for deer duck and big game hunting now. It’s just easier and doesn’t matter. For turkey, I still do bottomland (the best ever pattern), Sitka sub alpine and the new green pattern, and fall foliage.

But in a deer stand, a duck blind; or a box stand. I argue that a solid brown or dark earth tone color is actually better than camo patterns because of the shading factor, and at worst case doesn’t hurt you.
It’s ridiculous when you can buy them for basically nothing on Amazon. But Fenix headlamps are legit. Left outside in a duck hole for weeks, dug it out of mud, cleaned it, recharged, still kicking. And way bright.

I also will second kuiu, Sitka, and Chene.
