Been here 5 years and haven't seen one. Riding to go hit up Ruth's Chris in Biloxi and look and this bird that I thought was a pelican out the corner of my eye and realized it was an eagle. Pretty neat, flying about 30-40ft following the water line on the beach looking for some grub. Only ones I've seen recently were in Reggio. Actual location was Pass Christian near menge ave...

Haven't done much fishing down here... Could explain a lot. Gonna talk to my captain buddy and see if he's ever seen them on the beach

They used to nest on pine island in Vancleave area when I was a kid

I know of one that flies over my house sometimes, my neighbor has seen it 3 or 4 times, and I've also had one land in one of fields while I was disking back during the fall. That was pretty cool.

We called one in with a Primos easy chuckle while duck hunting this last season.

There used to be a few nests in some of the taller remaining trees on Cat Island (the one off the Mississippi coast) before Katrina. Every time we'd go out there, as we were approaching the island, they'd come fly out and make a few passes around us. They'd get REALLY low whenever they had younglings in the nest. They didn't want us around.

They're getting fairly common up here now. I've seen 2 or 3 flying over the middle of the city this year. There's quite a few of them on Lake Guntersville.

I watched one in air fight another large bird of prey(either a hawk, it would be the biggest hawk i had ever seen, or another brown eagle of some sort) yesterday.

We used to have the immature males hunt in ocean springs about 10 years ago. We keep finding headless squirrels everywhere and people keep sayin the saw a bald eagle. Finally on day I saw one sitting an a tree. My theory is that they would kill the squirrels hen get startled by the dogs. It was usually in the fall and winter when they were squirrel hunting in ocean springs probably due to less fish available or something

Funny you mention it.
Yesterday we watching about 20 white pelicans doing their little glide in a circle thing. Out of no where an unidentified bird of prey swoops in and bust them up. As it makes it's turn in the light I noticed the unmistakable white head and tail feathers.
I live right off the Red River in South Shreveport.
Terrible pics, but it was spur of the moment with an iphone.

The Bayou Black Area south of Houma, LA is full of them. We saw at least a dozen last week, including a nest with a couple of babies getting fed by the mother.

People next to us set up a camera blind to take pics of them on their nest. We have two nests that I know of on our lease in Bayou Black area. I saw 2 hook up and tumble down to about 40' over I-10 last week near Sorrento as did a few others by the swerving vehicles.
