So how did y’all do this deer season?

Kinda piggybacking off my food plot thread before the season, how did y’all do this year? I ended up with 3 total. A nice 8 point and two nice sized does. Freezer full of meat. I’ve only been heavy into deer hunting the last 5-6 years and this is the first season I’ve taken multiple deer. So, I was pretty excited. Actually got to watch a bunch of deer this year and I let quite a few walk, which was kinda nice for a change.
Also, I’ve never tried any off season feeding. Do y’all have any recommendations for feed types, like protein, minerals, etc.? I’d like to help the remaining deer get healthier, and maybe even entice some new deer to my property.
Thanks!

2 bucks and a doe
I’ve come to realize that if you’re making jerky’s and hot sticks out of venison, for the most part, it’s easy to blow through 3-5 deer between February and October.

6pt in backyard, 7pt in the Orleans marsh, 10pt in Woodville, and a doe in a small lease by the house. Nothing huge, but lots of fun hunts and plenty meat for the year.

Shot one deer with my bow and it was just this past Sunday. My son missed 3 this year. Daughter had a few opportunities with her bow but something went wrong each time. Told them it was just hunting luck coming up wrong this year. First year in the last 6 that they have not shot a deer. They normally each kill multiple deer a year. Putting it behind us and looking forward to next year.

Just paying your dues, baw. Next year should be outstanding for y’all.

Definitely seems to work like that. It will be repaid next season.

The mistakes she made will stick with her for life. She’ll never make them again.
She might make new ones, but those lessons are learned in the woods and only when there’s a deer in range.

1 boar no deer
Eldest son missed a cow horn spike that would have been his first deer
Saturday is our last day of the season so fingers crossed we can get one.

Bought 60 acres in south Mississippi in March.
Did not see a ton of deer this year but feel we were successful
Buddy of mine killed 2 doe
Son missed a doe
Last day of season killed a 10pt, which was the biggest we had on camera.

Couple of bucks, couple of does, saw plenty of deer and let some small ones walk and had two good ones that'll get another year if I'm lucky.
Hit one with my truck that I was able to salvage one side of, I'm good on venison, need some pork.

1 buck that didn't need to be in gene pool and a doe . Passed on 15 others . Didn't need the meat so watched them walk .

1 boar, 1 buck (6pt). Was a pretty terrible year, but was to be expected with the logging. I saw a few spikes and 4 points that i let go. Expecting a good year next year!

I killed a 7 pt and doe with bow.
My son killed a 8 pt
Daughter killed 2 seven pts and a doe
Between the 3 of us we probably shot 15-20 hogs in the early part of the season until we backed off shooting bc it was nearly every hunt we were shooting. As a club we kill and trap around 500 pigs a year and still don't make a dent. It's a lost cause at this point.

Couple really nice mature 8's for the wall. Let a couple really good young bucks(125-130") walk that will pay off in the next couple years. Probably let 50+ walk between young bucks and yearlings, fawns and does. Should have took another mature buck late in season. I miss judged which deer he was too late. He was about 325yds and in high grass and only had about 2 minutes to figure it out. Never really was broad side long enough to make a good call so I let him walk only to find out later on a trail cam he was headed towards only 5 minutes later that it was a hit lister.

My son and I had a pretty good year. He killed an 8,7, and 6 point. And I killed 3 does.
But we saw a deer or 2 on almost every hunt and let plenty of them walk.
