Sitka is good stuff - for a fortune.

I would invest in good thermals and the camo clothing can be your cheap stuff and you'll be good.

After Cabela's was bought out by Bass Pro, I've noticed a lot of their good camo was being phased out. And we al know Cabela's gear is much better than the Redhead brand. Due to the shortage of Cabela's camo at my local store, I've started purchasing pieces of Sitka gear. Yes, there stuff is down right expensive, but I believe its made well and it keeps me warm, dry, and comfortable. You cant put a price tag o comfort when it below 30, spitting rain, and you're belly deep in water. Just my opinion.

I ordered last season Under Armour Early Season set. I paid less for a shirt, pants, and jacket than the retail cost of just the pants. Worn it twice and have been very happy.

How many times have you hunted when it’s below 30 and raining?

Glad you asked. Enough to get my moneys worth. There's only so many days of duck season and I intend to hunt as many of those days that I'm off regardless of weather.

The older and wiser I get the less I see the need for overpriced camouflage. The marketing of these products has pulled these new age hunters all the way in with wallets flying open at anything. Sitka I have tried it. Not really a fan of it when compared to other quality products for a more reasonable price. The Ratio is of quality versus price is not there. No different than buying a Walmart camo long sleeve for 12 dollars and the exact same shirt with a Browning log on it at Dicks for 35. We have to be smarter as consumers

The Magellan dri fit stuff at Academy is awesome for $17-20. I laugh at all these morons dropping hundreds of $$$ on overpriced nonsense. Just like basic $15-30 duck calls from Haydel are all you need yet people wanna spend $180 on a custom acrylic call.

Sitka jacket was well worth it last season in Louisiana. Sure made a difference this week in Wyoming, as well.

I’ve been hunting for 45 years so I’d say I’ve hunted quite a bit under 30 and raining. I have a Browning goretex jacket that I bought at Steinbergs in Baton Rouge circa early 80’s that even then was over $200. I still wear it even though it’s a bit more snug so I’d say that early 80’s expensive jacket paid for itself.
I don’t spend money just to look the part but I am a believer in you get what you pay for and am willing to spend more if I feel it is going to last. I wear a $300 pair of Allen Edmond shoes to church every Sunday that I bought in 1981. I’d say that’s money well spent.
Well not every Sunday but most.

You are incorrect. One can buy all gear from Walmart and with some spray paint be just fun. But I understand your candyass needing special gear on your one weekend out of the month.

I don't get the hate on this gear. I believe that in some cases you get what you pay for, I also believe that when it's nice out you don't need to wear much to keep warm and be hidden. If you spend long hours in the field doing more than playing on your phone in a box with a heater, higher quality gear might come in handy. I watch every one of these Sitka, kuiu, first lite, skre threads and they all devolve into the same thing. He asked for info, got a few decent responses, and now it's a shite show.
I don't own any of the gear mentioned, but I do consider it from time to time, and I damn sure know better than to ask an opinion regarding it on this board.

It’s overpriced, but it’s a market driven industry, so kudos to them for getting the most of the product. I’ve got a couple of pieces that I like, but to be honest haven’t tested them enough to really say with certainty that they’re better than something else with half the price tag. On another token, it’s good to know that you’re supporting a company that really takes pride in developing their gear for both the occasional and professional hunter. I personally don’t have the desire to spend 2k on a full outfit of Sitka, but I don’t really care if someone else does. Some people just value money differently than others, that’s all. Do what you want

I bought all Sitka for my CO Elk hunt and it was well worth it. One set of clothes for a week of hunting, you have to go with quality.
That being said, I get 40% of Sitka so it helps. If not for that I would have gone with Kuiu, SKRE, or First Lite but one of the high end brands was all but necessary

To answer the OP I own some Sitka. The quality is top notch. Anyone that thinks it’s not high quality has never touched it.
Any of the stuff with GORE windstopper is awesome. Half of the problem hunting in Louisiana is that our temperatures don’t get real low until really late in the season but sometimes sitting exposed in a tree stand is brutal with the North wind. More than anything something to stop the wind is extremely helpful and then you can lose a layer or 2. I like the windstopper beanie and vest. I also have the Equinox pants and they are awesome for early to mid season bow hunting. The Core lightweight hoodie is the best thing I own. When it’s still hot in early bow season it’s all I wear. When I get to the stand I can unzip the front to cool off. It comes with the face mask attached to the hoodie so I’m not digging for it. It’s ultra thin so you won’t sweat as much.
