Looking at the Stratus jacket and pants. Is this the best choice for LA temps from Nov to Feb?

While you're at it, get the $900 Sitka waders.

Yeah unless weight bulky clothing is an issue the wooltimite set is downright hard to beat all the way down to teens/spitting snow an ice

1. I wont be paying "retail".
2. I want something that will last.
3. Shocking, but sometimes its worth it to buy something expensive if it performs well.

I have both and really like them. It has to be pretty cold though or you'll to hot walking to your stand. Really good at blocking the wind and quite. I got mine at 50% off and think it was worth it. I wouldn't pay full price though.

Yeah it is kind of heavy. The jacket isnt bad but the pants feel like they weigh a ton for some reason. I usually only wear them 2 or 3 times a year. I got the pants and jacket both for about 140 after they went on sale after season a few years back

The older I get the more I value Quality Cold weather gear. IHave also learned that just because a piece of gear is expensive that does not mean it is necessarily quality.

I'm not sure what's more annoying. All the #sickforit baws, or all the message board baws who brag incessantly about how they would never pay that much for clothing.

I swear some guys get off on being miserable just so they can say they dont need nice gear.

Congratulations - you're wearing the same army surplus jacket you got in 1979 and you're freezing your arse off as a result. That's great. I'll happily shell out some cash to be more comfortable. Doesnt make you better than me or me better than you.

I would think anything warmer than the stratus line in Louisiana would be too warm.

This. Same guys claim "I don't get cold" but damn sure have 16 layers, a buddy heater and bad disposition when its below 40, wet and windy.
