Seriously did anyone put a hurting on em today? Hunted Venice this am and scratched out 14 with 4 people in the boat. Stayed in blind til 11 1st time we haven’t limited out on second split opener since I’ve been alive. Perfect weather and everything but still no damn birds. This shite is getting pathetic. DU and Delta need to be held accountable for lying straight to our faces about the duck population numbers...

Not any better where I am at. I haven’t even shot at a duck yet in Ms. NE Arkansas are smoking them right now. That is the place to to shoot them if you can afford it. Probably have a couple thousand roosting on us right now in Ms, but they are leaving every morning.

We honestly don’t really kill them until early January for the most part.

I expect ducks to show up next week. It's about when they always do for me

We need some snow over midwest though

Three of us dumped ten, grays, Hollywood and rings. There was some uninspiring shooting taking place.

We didn't shoot, and only passed one legit opportunity. OTOH, we saw a field just across the road that was loaded. Ducks ere still spiralling in when we were leaving.

Numbers seen in KS and OK last week tell me, the numbers are right.

Years of degrading habitat, changing land use practices and ever increasing mechanized human activity in duck country in La - well those Coots have come home to roost! Add in the invasives like salvinia, cane bug and the number of storms this year.. that ain’t on du or dw. Or LDWF or Usfws

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, they started using air boats to Crawfish.
I had to come to South Texas on a deer hunt, but the guys that went to our blind said the farmer had pumped it up so high, they couldn’t even hardly put out a full body goose decoy

I’m thrilled to be able to contribute to this convo because I finally had my first duck hunt of my life this morning. I’m disappointed to be able to contribute to this convo because we didn’t take a single damn shot with 4 guns in the blind. So basically my duck hunting mirrors my fishing.

There is still plenty of good habitat with far fewer birds than ever before. We have a lease in braithewait that would routinely produce 400+ birds in our blind just 4-7 years ago. We have had 3 good hunts the past three years.

Seems like the birds dont stick anymore. They come down on a front. Get a decent shoot and then they gone
