true, my local wal-mart carries firearms and didn't have them on clearance.

Yes and they came up as $378. I got a manager and asked if they would match another wal-marts price. She said they don't do that on firearms. They did have one rifle marked on clearance, I think it was the Marlin lever action, and it wasn't marked down to $300.

Think it was the Marlinowner.com thread or a reddit thread but someone mentioned it's a nationwide clearance. And that if scanned with a hand scanner the price won't show if the manager hasn't gone to a specific screen to approve the markdown. They said something about having to punch the numbers into the computer and it will show up with a discount instead of scanning? They named a specific screen they should look at but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

Might stop on my way home again today and make them key in the SKU. I'm sure it will be like pulling teeth. I need one of these rifles like I need a hole in my head, but for $200 its hard to pass up.

You can shoot pigs and deer too. Just have to select the right round. I was reading on marlin owners forum about deer rounds. Pick the wrong one and someone said there was a hole they could stick there arm through. Pick the right one and bang flop. I have never looked into it more than that tho. Think about it some people use 12g slug guns for deer.

That was my plan originally but here in big ol Vidalia all they had were the .243, 30-06 and the .308. Son shoots a .243 and we have a 3 06's already. This will be my first .308, and I'm pumped

The one in Houma(Grand Caillou Rd.)had a couple of .308's and .22's and at least one Mossberg shotgun(looked like a semi auto)this morning. I went there for an air rifle because none around Metairie had them discounted. Saved over $75.00 on a Benjamin .177. I wanted a .22 but they were sold out. Nice drive too!
