I searched but couldn't find what some of you guys did to reinforce and balance this stock. I think it had something to do with liquid silicone & maybe another ingredient.

After doing this, did you like the results?

TIA

You Tube

I have thought about doing this to mine, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.

I always go with wood stocks on my rifles. My shotguns are synthetic.

OP, you want to "float the barrel" Those synthetic stocks suck. Wood, one can't go wrong after glass bedding to float the barrel.

Is it worth investing another $150 for this budget platform? Caliber is 6.5 Creedmore

Depends on how much you shoot it and how much you really want to improve it. I did a thread about filling the stock with Shore 10A silicone using a 2-part modeling kit you can order on Amazon (Dragon Skin I think it's called). It will add a solid pound to the stock and definitely improve the feel of the rifle. You can fill in the forearm of the stock in the area directly under the barrel with hard two-part epoxy to help stiffen it when using a bipod or a shooting rest too. I never got that far, I put in an order for a Boyd laminate stock for $120 and glassed it in. I still have the filled OEM stock, should probably set up some sort of rental program on here for those that start these threads...

The factory stock sucks period! But after filling the forearm and 3/4 of the butt with Rockite it really turned out to make a nice gun that I really enjoy to shoot. It made my RAP in 6.5 creedmoor that much better to me for 5 dollars and a little time.
As far as replacing the stock with a Boyds I considered it but then also considered dumping the trigger as well and installing a Timney, but that would have blown my budget (wanted to keep the whole rig under 1k).
I couldn't justify turning a 350-400 rifle into nearly a 1k dollar rifle, because I could've been in a Ruger Precision for a little over that.

Mingoswamp,
What exactly is your issue w/ the factory stock? How does the gun shoot?

Sorry for starting what appears to be a controversial topic. A buddy of mine bought this gun & I recalled a discussion on the OB of folks doing a cheap DIY, but couldn't find it using the search function. I was just trying to pass along any useful information & experiences using the cheap fix along to him. He didn't get in on the 2016 Walmart buy, so he has more invested some of you might.

Thanks & appreciate the responses. He might be interested in Clames' rental program though

This is what blows my mind when folks start adding considerable amounts of money to rifles like the RAP and Savage base models. By the time you throw in a trigger and stock you could've bought a Tikka or Bergara or even a nicer Savage or Ruger and been money ahead. Kinda one of those lipstick on a pig type things. I'm a fan of the Ruger Predator models bc most will just flat shoot but folks try to make them something they are not

I bought the Ruger American Compact in 7mm-08 for my kids... I haven't done anything to the rifle and I'm getting similar results as GREENHEAD22 with my 9 year old daughter shooting it.

Looks nice. Might have to do that. I got one on the Walmart special deal for $200.
