RTIC soft coolers - 20 or 30 can

The Ol Coleman soft cooler crapped out, so I’m thinking an upgrade as the Coleman didn’t really keep ice much for a soft cooler.

Anyone have feedback on RTIC or any other more sturdy brand?

My RTIC has been fine for occasional use. I leave mine at the ranch and bring it to the blind for an afternoon hunt. If I were to use it all the time I would probably look at a hard cooler.

I like my Polar Bear soft cooler. AO has good reviews as well.

Now all the rage seems to be with the firmer types. RTIC would be fine. I saw one similar @ Costco by "Coho" and it looked like it was quality.

Close your eyes and grab any other ice chest off the shelf.

Actually, I have the 20 and 40

Wax the zipper like they tell you to. Otherwise, the waterproofing around the zipper will tear and things will go downhill from there.
They did replace the 40 that this happened to though, since it was within one year.
Since then, wax every few months, and no issues two years later.

Mine made it a couple of years without issue. Now the top is coming apart and the zipper sucks. I bought mine when they were being sued by yeti and they seemed to be liquidating everything, so it was cheep. I wouldn't buy again though

Im gonna get killed over this, but the Hopper is my favorite device. The zipper doesnt leak much at all or any, it holds ice, and it has enough room for what I need when on the road or going to the beach. The shoulder strap is great.

I have the 20 and don't think I would want to lug around the 30.

I like RTIC. Live right down the road from their plant - but the soft cooler is worthless. Doesn’t keep ice for more than an hour or so. I keep the zipper greased up pretty good - but heard others complain about it coming apart.

Just buy a hard-side and be done with it.

If your RTIC soft cooler will only keep ice for an hour I suggest closing the lid and moving it out of direct sunlight. Also, quit using a magnifying glass to melt the ice. That might help as well.

I have an RTIC 8 I use it everyday for a lunchbox. I do have a 30 but is a Yeti. If I was going to buy a new one, I would not be afraid of the RTIC, especially for the price difference.

Have a rtic 30 and 40, I have had the 30 for a couple years now and it works great no problems. Keep it out of direct sunlight, don’t put it in the back of your truck and take care of it and should last just fine.

I waxed the zipper on my 30 once a month. The water proofing on the zipper came undone, and has now rendered the zipper useless. Contacted RTIC but because I bought it at a Buccees, I was told it wasn't warranted. Last time I buy RTIC.

I have a rtic 30 can cooler. It's fine.

What I don't like about is that it's a pita to open. If you only open it a few times a day, then it's fine.

Maybe I just go through my drinks too fast...

I doubt I'd buy it again.

I have an REI that has held up well. It has an insert for the ice and cans. If it doesn’t get punctured or over flow you don’t have to worry about leaks as much.

I’ve had it about 2 years with no issue.

I have the hopper 2. The first one the zipper broke. Yeti sent me a new one in 5 days. I know its expensive but I am a huge proponent of buy once cry once.
