When you say this do you mean a fish kill?

I saw this 5 years ago in canals off ICW in TX after a duck hunt. Floating reds everywhere.

That's possible, but he is referring to redfish schooling up in deep water. Roads to shell beach/Hopedale and Delacroix - the bayou is deep, you'll see people lined up by the deeper holes pulling in reds every cast.

Myyrtle Grove is another place, though in recent years it isn't as good.

Pretty sure this is what the OP is talking about. Redfish jubilee in St Bernard. Means only one thing

It should be happening. I’d imagine some fella on a bucket is being watched by a plain clothed warden

The water is still high and 55 degrees in Shell Beach. Should be prime in a few days.

no... that happens when fronts come in fast and you have a dramatic weather change.. already cold so fish have adapted.

I thought real hard about getting out in the marsh early this morning in case the specs got caught in shallow water with this cold snap. In the past, I have picked up limits of trout that was just kinda swimming around on the surface stunned by the cold. Then I got to thinking that, like someone above said, that the temp did not fall suddenly so the trout would have had enough time to get to deeper water so no trapped trout. When I walked outside this morning I was really glad that I didn't head out, it is freaking cold outside LOL

This usually happens when it goes from
Pretty warm to arctic quickly like 83 and 89. Not this time it was fairly cold for past 2 weeks w heavy N winds pushing water out / sending them to deeper water

Water temp at Shell Beach was reading 49 this morning with another front coming through Wednesday. I’m contemplating driving down to fish Saturday morning. Any one give it a go yet?

They’re in the “jubilee” areas now. Not lights out, but should be pretty good through the week.
