Can someone recommend a good vet in BR? I have an old male lab thats constantly having skin issues in one way or another and the vets I’ve seen haven’t panned out, to say the least. Thanks

Armstrong on Highland. Super non-invasive and ethical. He is clearly in it for the animals and loves what he does.

Azalea lakes has been good for us for a number of years. Lots of sketchy places though.

We also use associated vet from time to time, they use to have a bulldog specialist that worked there a day or two a week. That was an absolute steal of vet services paying associated vet prices for a bulldog specialist. I have no complaints other than it is first come, first serve. I find going right after their lunch time is the fastest way to get in. It is CHEAP, for a vet.

Cannot recommend these people enough.

Associated Veterinary Service

Good people and cheap.
They are associated with LSU Veterinary School if I am not mistaken.

If you're willing to drive a few miles....Dr. Breaux in Prairieville at East Ascension Vet Clinic. Damn good vet and is the cheapest of any you will find. Don't let the "cheap" fool you, it's just his thing. Example: He only charges $35 - $40 to spay or neuter a pet.

I used to use Dr Waguspack. His office is right behind Calandros at Perkins/Seigen.

Doc Griffith off Hwy 42. No bs, takes care of your animal and doesn’t pedal a bunch of unnecessary tests and meds

I have a Lab mix that was having skin issues, scratching incessantly.I was feeding him Purina Dog Chow with red dye in it.Someone suggested dye free food.I switched him to Purina One,has no dyes in it.He stopped scratching in a few days ad his hair came back.

Nah I quit going there after my puppy got fleas and was too young for standard flea treatment. So the vets response was to come back in 2 weeks and get flea medicine once he is the appropriate age. I asked her if there was any other solution because he lives indoors and I don't want fleas in the house plus he was itching like crazy. She said no come back in 2 weeks. Went to another vet and they treated him for fleas with an age appropriate treatment.

Helouin's on Airline near Choctaw. They've been there for years and have always done great work. BTW, Phill Helouin has a HUGE soft spot for labs.

2nd. My family have been lifelong customers. He loves working dogs and is a very straight shooter. A real old school good vet. Gonna be a sad day when he hangs it up I love that man

Eta: also recommend dr Breaux. Another great old school doggy sawbone
