I don't even hunt and I enjoy his show and podcast. It's a fantastic product.

tGoat hunting show. I know a lot of non-hunters who enjoy it. Rinella does more good for hunter PR/image to non-hunters than anybody else out there.

I just watched it the other night, and it was great. The vegan guy does get a little annoying talking about animals as moral beings though.

I've been forced to watch it since I lost Outdoor Channel. I just don't get the appeal.

It is probably an unpopular opinion but I thought the same thing. I loved it initially but eventually became burnt out on the redundancy and approaching everything about hunting/fishing from a deeply philosophical perspective. Having said that, I think Rinella has done a lot to help with conservation and hunter PR in general.

I think he's appealing because of his copious respect for the animals he hunts, commitment to conservation, and the strategies he uses to hunt.

I can't watch the high fence hoop and holler guys doing a tribal dance every time they kill their named deer.

This, but also the fact that the humble appeal it once had is long gone and has been for a few years now. Good for Rinella I guess, but the merchandising alone has gotten a bit ridiculous. They’ll sell you anything you want with the ME logo on it. Again, I get it. He’s a businessman. But the MeatEater whiskey and Benchmade $300 boning knives are a turnoff IMO.

It's the first hunting show I have ever been able to sit through. And my wife enjoys it too. If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

He's supposedly coming do something here in Louisiana, tied to coastal erosion.

I get that, but it's a hell of a lot better than the "hot dammit!!!! Yeeehhaawww!! Would have never killed that deer without my Jimmy's Dealership Ford F-150 to haul my PSE blah blah, my antler boner deer grower feed, rage broadheads, Nikon range finder, carbon express arrows and on and on" guy. That is what's annoying.

I don’t disagree with that at all. I’ve found myself watching a bunch of Midwest Whitetail on YouTube. Minimal ads. Seem like good dudes. That’s where a couple of the THP guys cut their teeth.

It's alot better than the "durrrrr, big buck, big buck, me like big buck" that you get with most hunting shows. There's literally no emphasis on anything BUT big antlers on almost every other hunting show.

And for most deer hunters, that's probably all they want. But I've always enjoyed the more philosophical approach Steve brings to it. And then you still get the goof off episodes like turkey hunting with Joe Rogan and "The Cashmere Killer" Bryan Callen.

No doubt. I’m not trying to say it’s a bad show or anything, just that it’s not for me. Again, Steve is a great guy and advocate for the outdoors. I prefer to watch a lot of the YouTube hunting channels.

But he does hunt with cheap Savage rifles from what I've seen. Pretty surprised someone hasn't pushed him with $ to use higher end stuff. I know the guy that owns Weatherby hunts with them sometimes which is pretty cool to hear about.
