I prefer to watch a lot of the YouTube hunting channels.

There's some damn good shite on there for sure. The Hunting Public and Randy Newberg are probably my 2 favorites on YouTube.

But he does hunt with cheap Savage rifles from what I've seen. Pretty surprised someone hasn't pushed him with $ to use higher end stuff. I know the guy that owns Weatherby hunts with them sometimes which is pretty cool to hear about.

They're on the Weatherby train

It's alot better than the "durrrrr, big buck, big buck, me like big buck" that you get with most hunting shows.
I have never heard one say durrrr. That's your bigoted mind at work.

Oh, and I simply have no interest in any rifle hunting shows, at all.

Yeah. Figured that was coming. Didn't pay attention too much to what they were using last season.

Not only is it a Weatherby, but it's a Weatherby with First Light camo and a MeatEater logo on it. (for those who don't know, ME acquired FL)

ETA: I stand corrected. I looked it up and it doesn't have FL camo on it, but it does have the ME logo on the drop out magazine:

The rifle he was giving away the other day was a Weatherby Mark v in 6.5-300.

I also have seen him shoot a Carolina Custom Rifle in .300 Win mag

I love what he stands for and am a huge fan of this podcast thanks to y’all, but his TV show is garbage. The sound is all over the map, super loud shitty music and then the dialogue is weird almost forced and I could barely hear it over the music, it was super odd. I recognize that my sample size is limited to three episodes but I quit it was so bad. And I really wanted to like it because I really do enjoy the podcasts, even listen to Callahan’s week in review.

6 episodes and 4 hunts. I was hoping for more. I enjoy the show and the scenery. He must be too busy to devote his time to Meat eater hunts.

I like his stuff a lot.

Most hunting shows have very little production value, spend the majority of the time pushing products, and play some lame late 80s rock music as a build up to the shots. Rinella takes a lot of pride in all of the animals he shoots regardless of size and he focuses a lot on the process of the hunt and not just the kill. I would even bet that 2/3 of the guys on other hunting Shows would not be able to make it in the terrain that Rinella hunts most of the time

supposedly 5 more episodes are coming in January

but yeah, its obvious that they are more invested in their products, podcast, and YT channel these days than the show

Nothing to do with Rinella but I was watching a YouTube episode of buck commander. Luke Bryan’s son Who is probably eight or nine shoots a great buck and after they track it a while he runs up to the deer grabs the rack and immediately says how many inches is it.

I am proud to say my kids understand that hunting is a deeper experience than that.

Watched the first new episode last night and really enjoyed it. It reminded me of my childhood - catching fish and seafood and eating it fresh.

That's what I enjoy about MeatEater. It's more than shooting an animal and posing it for the camera. It's an adventure, it's Rinella speaking with reflection and how consequences in his life have led him to where he is. A man should be able to relate to that. Not one of you that have gone west to hunt for elk or deer have solely gone for a photo op. When I see the pictures of the animals, the fish caught in mountain streams that are posted on here, you had an adventure, a moment in time that alters your life in some respects. That's the happiness I see in the photos, not the, " look at the deer, fish, etc. I killed or caught". You men LIVED and you knew it.

Just looked it up after I finished the show last night. Weatherby sells it in LH only. Janis had one also but I think it was one of the other MarkV variants that's pretty similar. I would love to have one but they are pricey.

this has robbed the pleasure from young boys. My boy killed his first racked buck last year, a small 8. He was happy, but you could tell he was a little disappointed. It was just a tiny bit sad for me. But all he sees in TV are canned hunts with 159 inches.

I’m lucky my oldest understands why I have two basket racks in our den and why the biggest buck I’ve ever shot (On a ranch in Texas) is in a closet in the garage. It’s more about the people you were with and the circumstances of the hunt than the size.

He understands, and he appreciates the differences....but he has buddies that get taken to big time places and kill big ol bucks, and he just wants a pic to show em that is like theirs.. I get it.

But man, I would've been over the moon if I had killed an 8 at 10 years old
