A good friend did me a solid favor but will not accept payment. This wasn’t a small favor it was along the lines of stamping a set of building plans for “no charge.” That’s unacceptable for me. I would not have asked him to do the work had I had any idea that he wouldn’t charge me. I want to get him a really nice 10mm and need a little help with which brand has the most “thank you” factor. Thanks in advance.

The Colt Delta Elite was the unofficial OB pistol for a while.

G20 for the woods if you want firepower, simplicity, and working when pulling trigger.

Fancy glass case and punching holes in paper 10mm while saying pew pew pew then Colt Delta Elite

Thanks friend by buying him a 10 mm.

Friend can’t find or afford ammo for new gun.

Ah, the cruel irony of life.

I have a Glock 20sf and it’s done everything a Glock is supposed to do. As for the ammo you can get it at academy or bass pro any day of eve week and even during the ammo drought it was easier to get than other due to the higher cost and less people that shoot it.

Best as a gift I’d go Delta Elite. Others are great pistols, but for a gift the Colt.

The Colt Delta Elite

You are going to have to go the Gunbroker route. Colt hasn’t produced any in a year or so. I am looking for one myself. I talked to Colt last week and they said they are going to run another batch soon. You can find a nice used for $1500 on GB.

If you want to get him a badass Delta here is a Nighthawk Colt Hawk Delta Elite. Very rare and worth $3500 easy.

I wanted a 10mm for a while but I wanted a 4.25” 1911 so I waited until the rock island tac ms became available. If you think your friend would wanted the shorter barrel, that’s the cheapest and most available 4.25” 1911 at around $700.
If a 5” barrel, I really like the Kimber rapide’s. The dusk color is probably my favorite.

My G20 is great. I’ve gone with a KKM barrel cause I mess with stuff. The original worked just fine.
I hit academy all the time and have never seen 10mm there. In Atlanta suburbs. I also reload which is almost a must if you have a 10.
A Delta Elite is a unicorn right now. Kimber makes a nice looking 10 for the same coin a used delta will cost.

Dan Wesson Bruin or Kodiak in a new one ($2500 ish). I found a used DW Razorback but haven’t found the $1500 the guy wants for it. Dan Wesson is owned by CZ now. Almost Ed Brown quality at Colt prices. Best deal for the dollar

Hard to beat a Nighthawk Custom Heinie Longslide if price is no option.

Sig P220

Not G20 and not any 1911.

Just my preference, and it may be illogical, but I don’t like carrying cocked and locked with hammer back pointed at my leg or nuts.

Sig P220 is DA/SA with decocker. The Glock doesn’t have a manual safety and is always internally cocked. 1911s have a manual safety which is fine for me but the hammer cocked and locked bothers me, plus to decock it’s like decocking any single action pistol or lever rifle… do it wrong and you shoot a hole in the floor.

I got to handle an EAA Witness 10mm years ago, wish I'd have bought it. Was at the gun show in Gonzales, someone had it for $400.

CZ 75 clone (not the 97, but true 75 style). Steel frame.

I remember hearing the Delta Elites were a bit fragile, the 1911 wasn't the ideal platform for hot 10's.
