USFWS will finally consider raising the daily bag limit for pintails to as many as 3 per day per person for the 2024-25 season. Decision will come after breeding population estimates are in. Now when we they allow hunters to take advantage of the huge abundance of Mexican whistling ducks during teal season?

Maybe for the Pacific flyway. Otherwise, seems doubtful, at best.

Any ideas as to the increase or decline in the number of waterfowl hunters? Duck hunting doesn't seem to be a thing anymore.

Strong evidence that duck populations are a lot lower than agency numbers due to flawed survey and number gathering techniques.

Can't be messing up the money machine.

Hunted in Northern Oklahoma last year.

We had our pintail limit everyday and had to pass up big groups of pintails multiple times…….they were everywhere

Based on what, other research ir surveys?

I don't doubt it, and it's something I've discussed with colleagues over the last few years. One of them loves to point out how the "Adaptive Harvest Management" model being used hasn't been very adaptive.

It’s starting the 25-26 season.

The drake to hen ratio is all out of whack. People need to learn how to ID drakes and only shoot those for a little while, honestly wish they’d drop the hen limit to 0 and do 3 drakes only.

Listened to Ramsey Russell put out there that shooting green only (no brown) has done what for the mallard population? Lowest number in years.

We do not spare hens for grays, teal, and divers. How can you extrapolate that a pintail drake only plan will increase the population. Interesting point.
