That deer seems awful small to have horns like that.

is it bow season? I thought you had to be disable or a senior citizen to hunt with a crossbow during bow season?

Must have been hard to drag that thing out with a wheelchair. Maybe he had one of those electric ones and put big tires on it.

Typical crossbow hunter. No business being in woods. Doesn't even have a freaking truck, damn fine animal met a terrible death to an unskilled hunter and is being drug around catching tire blowback on a rack without a scratch that is meant for soccer moms going to the beach.

personally i like the added difficulty of shooting a compound bow over a crossbow but lets be honest, if you're using a compound bow you're using a lot of modern technology that makes archery pretty easy. i'll admit though, if you only shoot traditional bows, hate all you want on the crossbows and compounds. you would have the high ground there.

Compounds at least resemble a bow.

Beautiful deer.

After reading the story, it saddens me it was killed by a person like that.

That looks like the bumper of a truck in the pic. Looks like he just has a hitch extension.

If you have a lease in that area then im jelly

Kinda a csb but Ive heard to old timers talk about the first deer seen in W.Fel was around 1964. One saw a track in Fancy Point while working cows and another saw one run across a road down by the river near town. Amazing how the parish deer population has changed since then

Our property borders the nuke plant

The plant is bow hunting only, it's loaded with deer

Get off your high horse. I recently purchased a cross bow and love it. That "typical cross bow hunter" comment is BS. If that story is true, then yes he is an idiot. I have been hunting for 35 years and I resent that comment

a 10 yr old can consistently hit his target with a compound bow in a couple of days if he's set up right.

there will always be idiots in the woods that take shots they shouldn't be taking, or that generally don't know what they're doing. every once in a while one of them will kill a mature buck, just by sheer luck if nothing else. it has nothing to do with it being a crossbow.

and i don't shoot crossbows nor do i know anyone who does, apart from my 75 yr old uncle. i don't get the hate for them.

As long as guys are crazy about killing goats with multiple horns, yes they will.

Much of our pain is self-chosen. Crossbows are just a way to get gun hunters more days in the woods. They are the worst thing to ever happen to deer hunting.
