All guns should be secured to prevent unauthorized access. "Secured" may mean "on your hip," or may mean "locked in a gun safe," or anything in between.

If it's locked in a safe, it's worthless.

Worthless. Ask the ice cream man.

I already went back and admitted that I was too broad in saying that. For a defensive weapon, I believe that it should be loaded.

You are acting like a child because you have nothing intelligent to say. This is distinct characteristic of you posting on this board, in my opinion. Do you have anything constructive to say or are you going to continue to play the idiot card?

Home alarms...why are they never discussed in these loaded vs unloaded or home defense discussions? I have a gun for defense, praying I never have to point it at anyone. I do not want to shoot anyone. The likelihood of me waking up "too late" is significantly reduced by the blaring siren that goes off the instant any door or window is opened or broken. Gun people, not meant negatively as I wish I was one but my funds are lacking to be one, never seem to discuss how to prevent an incident, only what happens at the time the bad guy kicks in your bedroom door.

It baffles me that some people will spend thousands on their defensive weapons, but won't spend hundreds on alarm systems.

As I asked the last time you attacked me, please show all these posts to me. You've really become the biggest pussy on this board. You throw out some trollish line, and can't take being called out for it. Then you act as if it's some other poster's fault. grow some skin and stop this mystery accusation crap. It makes you look like a child, not us.

I thought that we had moved past this. It makes me happy to know that you still are concerned about it. Really, it does.

Me too I thought for sure you realized it was not me.

This is hilarious. All because I stated that my guns are worthless?

If I were worried about that kind of thing, I'd have an alarm before I planned how I was going to shoot someone. It just isn't a concern of mine at all.

I do have an alarm, but not a PLAN on how to shoot someone.

My home has been invaded twice, and I can assure you that it is an erie feeling to know that you were asleep in your favorite chair in the living room, when an uninvited person came in your house and most likely saw you asleep, steeling your wifes purse on the way out.

when a couple thugs were in my house and woke me up, when I racked my .45 they took off. I dont leave one in the chamber, not because i want the racking noise to scare them off, but because of safety.
You can have a full magazine with a round in the chamber and always have that option to cycle the slide if you want scare them off, yet you also have the option of getting a quick round off when you don't have time to cycle the slide.

but because of safety.
With modern pistols, isn't that kinda like wearing a belt and suspenders?

but from my personal experience on this issue i've got a little input.
So do I. I cycled the action of an AK47 (pretty damn loud) on three dudes. They didn't run. Instead, pistol was drawn and all hell broke loose.

With my son's shooting, he would be dead today had the chamber been empty.
