Go to an OTC unit in colorado in 2nd rifle and you'll see texas and California plates and SxS's running up and down the road non stop for 10 days. Evidently somebody must kill something doing it, but most of them are just drinking and dicking off the whole time.

Leaving Friday!

We don't hunt from the road. First year bringing a 4 wheeler to travel the one trail that ATVs are allowed on. Just getting us to hard to reach trails without packing everything 5 miles in.

DIY Hunted Montana a few times and it’s hard for someone from south Louisiana to wrap your head around how big the state is. Some public lands were over 240k acres. Only way to cover that much ground is to drive, spot, then stalk.

In Montana, the law is if you tag the animal, it's legally yours. Someone else can shoot an elk or mule deer up on the mountain, if it comes running down and dies near a road, some stranger can run up and throw a tag on it and there's nothing you can do about it legally. That might not stop the shooter from wanting to punch the tagger in the face, but the shooter would be in the wrong then. Causes for a bunch of people riding around and looking for animals to kill or tag. If you don't have a horse in that part of the country, you're either hiking or road hunting.

Lol you obviously haven’t “run dogs” before. I did it a few times until I figured out that it was dangerous as hell and you were never hunting from “your” property. All that is is hunting from roads in or out of your vehicle. Used to be commonplace in North LA. Thankfully you don’t see it much anymore

You speak on your experiences, I'll speak on mine.

Property we hunt is most definitely ours. If it was dangerous, no way I'd bring my kids (who both love it). And during the hunt, you have standers and drivers. No one hunts any roadways or from vehicles.

When we were teens in North La we went on "country rides" (during season) all the time with a doobie or two and a 30-06.

Shot many out of the truck window but back then there were no tags and the limit was 7 per season.

I'm not sure if the law had passed about shooting off the road then, if so we didn't know about it.

Ok. I haven’t seen it done that way. I suppose you could if you had enough land and that land was in a very remote location. Not trying to get a bunch of dog hunters pissed at me. I’m not one of those people that think it should be banned. I’m just happy it doesn’t go on near my place

True. The people I knew who ran dogs were salt of the earth, some of the best people you’d ever have the privilege of knowing.
