Not even close. RT is Chinese just like all of the commodity brands (pit boss, traeger, GMG, camp chef etc). If that's your budget, pick one with features you like and smoke away. If you want to go American/Quality, look at Pitts and Spitts, Mak, Yoder, etc

If anyone is looking for something to pellet- try doing some beef jerky. Just buy a top, bottom, or eye of round roast, slice it up, throw a bunch of seasonings in a zip lock bag with the meat for a bit, and let it low smoke for a couple of hours. Then you have fresh meat in the fridge all of the time.

I recently got the Camp Chef, and man its a game changer

I have two young kids that are always doing something on the weekends, so smoking was never an option for me. With this, I have smoked something every weekened the last 4 weeks because it makes it possible

I like the camp chef I got because it allows me to slide the heat shield back and cook burgers and such

Also, we smoked some catfish at 160 for a few hours and then made fish dip last weekend. It was awesome

I looked at one but decided against it when I saw some reviews saying it has a hotspot where the grates slide. I got the recteq 590 instead. I’ve only used it twice, but I love it so far.

Those look nice. The stainless is a great option IMO.

Have now done 3 cooks. I may as well get rid of my gas grill, offset, and kettle. This thing is absolutely amazing.

Get you that Pit Boss Pro Series 1600

That Oklahoma Joe Rider DLX is very interesting as well. I can't decide on one either. There are too many of these things!

Had a rectec 700. Sold it. Bought a masterbuilt gravity 560. Was never satisfied with the flavor of the pellet grill. You will not be disappointed with flavor on the gravity. You can use lump or regular charcoal. I layer in chunks of hickory and oak. Smoked 2 butts a few weeks ago. Best BBQ ever. Melt in your mouth meat candy

You can run actual wood chunks in those?

Yes, you can put them in the hopper with charcoal, but not much of it mixed in with charcoal or you can put some in the ash bin every so often. I find it gets a less bitter smoke taste in the ash bin, but it makes you get up and add them to go that route.

I layer wood chips in with the briquettes. Works great.
