Looking to pick up a lightly used semi for duck hunting. Recs on good and reputable pawn shops or dealers in the area?

Any tips on how to judge used guns, red flags? Can you take them and test them? Thanks in advance for any tips.

That’s my point, 8/10 times a gun is in a pawnshop for a reason

For what you will spend at a pawn shop “special”, you’re better off going new on a cheaper model these days…. You can buy yourself a decent shotgun for under $500.

I talked to a guy who picked up a Stoeger semi a few years back and still likes it. I've been looking around for a Weatherby SA08 but no luck

Jim's and Cabela's have used guns for sell. But most times used guns, even at pawn shops are almost at new gun prices. Like others have said find a budget friendly brand with good reviews and buy new.

I picked up an old 870 Wingmaster last week from a pawn shop on the Northshore. Paid $400 for it. I shot it over the weekend and I’m pleased with my purchase.

This right here. I bought an older o/u from a friend that owns a pawn shop. Not just some random pawn shop. It's always in need of work. $500 sale price plus the occasional $150 at the gun smith and... WTF I could've bought a Stoeger or something at Academy for less and still had a working gun two years later.

Reputable does not equal pawn shop.
