I went there, and I hunt and fish, but I'm not a redneck and certainly not like you.

Not much hope for an open season into February; the federal framework only goes to the last Sunday in January.

When LDWF started flying aerial surveys, they were done every 2 weeks to generate migration chronology information. That was reduced to monthly, and then the October and February surveys were discontinued because the data were not used for anything except satisfying curiosity. Aerial surveys are expensive, time-consuming, and dangerous, so they need to be justified.

I'd like to have October and February data because of my curiosity, but what would help me more than anything professionally is if all states in the Flyway did surveys like ours November through January.

But that only helps the southern most states... In our realm of concern... So its of no use.

Thanks for your service tho LR. We appreciate your insight

Mr Reynolds

How will goose seasons/limits be affected, if at all, if any changes to ducks are made?

Not at all. They are separate; we can even have separate zones/splits configuration for geese if we choose.

I suspected, and I'm glad to hear that. But I receive a lot of e-mail and phone calls, especially after this unusual and disappointing season, from guys who are dead serious about NEEDING to hunt into February.

Sometimes it's hard to tell .......

It would definitely be a luxury. Im not saying i agree with extending season, but a change would be nice. Im usually over hunting season by the time mid january gets here, but thats because it starts too early. While i had a few successful hunts early, the masses were not pleased with the first split. And while we're talking about splits, that split this year was pointless. You didnt stop the weekend warriors, or as our resident Fatneck would say, sugarasses, from blasting every weekend through the season.
I wouldnt be opoosed to opening dec 01, having a 2 weeksplit with 2 full weekends in the end odf december, then opening up through feb 24 or whatever
