Anybody have a outdoor watch they really like? I am looking for an all around watch that I can dive, hunt, fish, workout, and wear at the beach? Something that's going to be pretty durable and handle some abuse.

G-Shock watches seem to hold up fairly well. I have a Luminox I received as a gift years back and don't recommend it. The face scratched easily, had to replace the band within a year or so of light use, and the face fogs. Have taken care of it and don't abuse it and it just isn't worth the money or the "tactical" marketing they use.

You mean like a garmin style gps/watch or an old school watch?

If you just want something to tell time, the timex expidition line is like $50 and bulletproof and look acceptable for dress wear. The skys the limit after that

I’ve beaten the mess out of a couple G-shock watches, and I currently wear a Luminox for outdoor stuff. Would recommend either.

Doesn't need to be gps. But I just saw the Suunto Core on Amazon and it looks like a decent price for that style.

Midway throws the luminox on sale from time to time. I picked one up last February off them for like $169. Love it.

I have a gshock that I wear for all of that/work and it’s flawless. The only issue, if you can call it one, is that people see it and immediately think I’m a vet/military/cop etc. I am a vet but so many people have told me that it’s a “dead giveaway.”

I also have an Timex expedition that is more of a casual watch I wear when I don’t wanna give off the cop vibe.

Hard to beat a gshock or expedition.

I have a marathon diver auto that I havent taken off in several years thats awesome if you're looking for something that's "nice" by my standards. I like having tritium markers because I can read it when I wake up in the middle of the night.

You can read a timex in the middle of the night too, but you have to press a button. Just depends what you like to blow money on

No lie, I had a plain jane silver fossil, metal band, wore that everyday all day for over 7 years. I need to get another as it finally wore out. The new one I got is just to pretty to abuse like I did that one. The old one spent time in both oceans, the gulf, the marsh and even snorkeling in Mexico.

Also, when they finally break (not the battery wearing out) you can bring it in and get a new one for %50 off.

Obviously this is a slight joke in context of this thread. But it is the next watch I want. Hopefully I can find a used one from my birth year (86) with a black face and through it on a black rubber strap. Would be an awesome boat/outdoor watch. Not great for "durable and handle some abuse", but I'd still wear it when active.

Any ‘tool’ watch will work.

$1600 titanium one below...wear it forever, beat the shite out if it...it’ll get a great patina. Change the bands, he’ll even the movement if you have to.

I use a G-shock 9300. The mudman and rangeman were too big, and I couldn't bend my hand backwards. Mine also syncs with the atomic time thing in Colorado every night. It's also solar powered, so I just stick it by the window when I am not wearing it

Who wants to spend $1600 on a watch to beat it up?

Someone who wants an automatic and values style.

Marathon’s autos are above $1000 too.

Marathon

I’d rather the cleaner looking titanium one, but Marathon’s are super cool. You’d hand either down to your son.

ETA: the point of my initial post is that an image search of “tool watch” should provide an ample selection of choices. That’s a good place to start at least.

G-Shock Waveceptor. Solar powered and atomic time. I've had mine for probably 10 years and haven't even changed a battery or band. Not dressy but it works.
