Congrats on his first big kill. Was that your teeth or his that were chattering?
I would have been a nervous wreck as well...

Opening Day/Weekend Reports...
Sat for a total of 14 hours in my bow stands over the weekend and didn't see A DEER! Saw 4 from my truck but not one in stand. I think they know hunting season started.

Good Deal
I remember the first deer 79 Jr. took. Dropped a spike graveyard dead on a dead run with his 12 gauge.
I also remember his first rabbit he shot with his Godfather's crack barrel .410.
Miss those times

Congrats to all of ya'll on the kills. I don't bow hunt. Went to the game Saturday and decided to make my last bass fishing trip of the year on Sunday.
My boat was in the shop all summer and I had just got it back. I had made up my mind before I went that if I had any problems with it that it would have a "for sale" sign on it when I got home. We decided to go to the Spillway instead of Catouatchie because of the wind. Water was low as hell. Started fishing Little Bayou Sorrell. First cast, before I even get the trolling motor in the water, my parter lands a 3lber on a SPRO Frog.
About 2 minutes later I hook one on a buzzbait, get it to the boat and my line snaps. Would've been another keeper. Next cast my partner hooks another nice one on the frog. Jumps and spits the frog. We caught a few more small ones. Running down Sorrel, my motor cuts off. I look back and its smoking. Couldn't get it cranked.
We trolled around and caught a few more small ones. My cousin was out there with me so he was gonna tow me in when he finished fishing. We trolled around til about noon and one of the cables in my trolling motor snapped ending my fishing trip.
I'm bringing my boat back to the shop and selling it when it gets out. Anybody wants an alumninum 1997 Spectrum by BassTracker 17' with 75 Mercury Force on it let me know.

Got up at 3 am on Friday morning and drove to Three Rivers WMA, took a little longer than I thought to get to my tree. Ended up ready to shoot around 6:40 and at 8:20 this little piggy came out at 40 yards. He was walking towards me and I thought I was going to get a broadside shot at 15 yards but the pig caught wind of me and turned around running off. I drew back and he slowed down to a brisk walk at 38 yards, I released and the Rage found its mark right in front of his hind quarter and stuck out in front of his shoulder. He only went about 50 yards. I figured he weighed about 80lbs.

Nice kills diesel and Richard.
I'll be looking to pop some squirrels this weekend. Hopefully the wind will lay down. I plan on starting bow hunting next year.

After my Friday lunchtime post, I got back in the stand.....
My first day bow hunting, opening day, took an old buck. He was a six point/cull. Nice tall rack.
Still and 8 pointer and a 10 pointer out there!!

Oh, and details.
30 yards shot. Tracked 30 yards. Got lucky and hit the buck in the heart.
The 8 pointer came in first. I drew on him 4 times and never got a clean shot. The old six pointer came in and pushed him off the corn. He gave me broadside and I popped him!

Wow, what a day. My 10 y/o son took his first deer with a Crossbow. He had 2-3 opportunities this morning, but was shaking so much, he could never find the deer in the scope. Got him setteled down(teeth chattering), and he finally lined a big doe up, and sealed the deal, at 22 yrds. Epic! Went 50 yards. It was quartering towards, but he drove the broadhead through the front leg, and took out the heart. It was an awesome moment, thats all I can say. May you guys get to have that moment one day.
Thats awesome!

My son killed his first two deer last year with a .243. He dropped the first one right where it stood and then he started screaming. It was awesome!!!! Two weeks later he shot a 5 point that ran for about 50 yards. When it started running he started crying because he thought that meant he missed. He has the fever for this year....so do I!!!!!!!

Well, the big man tried to bag another one this afternoon. Reality set in! He hit it back, and we trailed it about a mile before we lost blood. Still got to teach him how to track. We watched the ants and gave him lessons on how to use them to track a deer after a rain, etc. Great lessons on shot placement and target panic were instilled. He definately has the fever.

Hunted 4 hunts in a row at Tunica WMA and didn't see a deer. 2 other guys hunted with me for 2 hunts and they didn't see anything either.
